Morty’s obsession with Jessica is so strong that it interfered with an extradimensional entity’s ability to telepathically communicate with him.
Especially Morty’s constantly thinking so much about her feet that it can override the telepathic communication.

Can’t help but remember the episode of Ren and Stimpy where Stimpy heads out to search for his fart after it blew away in the wind.
My husband and I still sometimes call to our cat by going “STIIIIINKYYYY!” in several of the voices Stimpy uses while looking for his fart. (Her name is not Stinky)
