turmacar@lemmy.worldto memes@lemmy.world•One of these days I'm gonna pipe these bad boys into my homes duct work LMAO8·6 months agoYou just described a water heater.
One that would potentially store heat at super dangerous pressures of steam granted.
No the idea is the Left has a long history of infighting over which cause is most worthy or which step in the direction of progress to make to the detriment of making overall progress or actually working against the Right.
Letting “perfect be the enemy of good”.
It’s an in-joke.
The comic used to be big in the ~2000s nerd space, mostly by being one of the earlier video game focused webcomics that hit it big. The author had/has a… polarizing personality and the comic itself went from dick jokes and game references to super serious miscarriage storyline at the drop of a hat.
Que endless satire.
That’d be it.
Honestly it’s super interesting to watch even if you know the moon landings happened for the history of tech he talks about.
No, they’re saying regardless of if the signal was encrypted or whatever format it was in, anyone with a directional antenna could triangulate where the signal was coming from. If there were only a repeater on the moon that NASA was transmitting to that was then sending the signal back, that would also have been able to be determined.
Both the Russians, who had a vested interest in embarrassing the US, and every other amateur and professional radio operator on the planet agreed that the moon landing was being transmitted from the moon.
a nightmare of garish bullshit that makes the entire work look like utter dog shit

“Don’t want automated looms? Stop buying clothes. Buy material and make your own, as your forefathers did. Surely your neighbors will be open to your message of time and effort instead of ease.”
Stop assuming the tragedy of the commons can be avoided by scolding the people talking about wanting to avoid it.
turmacar@lemmy.worldto memes@lemmy.world•Has to be those frozen wind turbines and solar panels...5·1 year agoAt least according to this it’s ~8% of the state’s electrical capacity all by it’s lonesome which doesn’t seem too bad. By the stats on it’s own wiki it’s pretty active.
My grandparents had an 8 track collection. That doesn’t make me a 60s kid.
turmacar@lemmy.worldto memes@lemmy.world•What's _______ for you guys? Also, I truly believe they don't know. They just say no, out of some bizarre corporate reflex.10·1 year agoWhat?
Are you trying to say they have no stats on what people stream on their platform if it isn’t connected to an ad? Because that would be completely insane.
Funnily enough the movie they made was supposed to be the intro to a TV show.
Trying to expand Gunslinger to bring in more backstory (and reeeeeeeally messing up the backstory) killed both the movie and the planned TV show. It’s crazy how well their plan could’ve worked if they hadn’t tried to fold too much into the “prequel”. Dark Tower even has the built-in “out” that this is a different turn of the wheel.
I did the math for me and even with the Amazon credit card the service wasn’t worth the price. It’s free shipping over ~$25(?) dollars anyway. “Prime shipping” hasn’t meant anything significant since at least 2020. It’s often the same as non-prime, maybe a day earlier.
If you care about the shows that maybe changes, but they have about 5 and anytime you search for something it’s a tossup whether it will be included with your subscription or only available for buy/rent or on some other platform. It’s even more fun when there’s ‘copy’ of a movie included with Prime, and another available for buy/rent and and buy/rent version is at the top of the search results and the one you already paid for access to you have to scroll to see.
Their entire business is making things for inmates. Those boots seem to not be steel toe because they’re trying to stop metal getting into the prison.
Don’t know about them personally but given the industry would be suspicious of the quality. It’s likely they’re one of the few or only suppliers people can buy things from while incarcerated.
No no. The rest of the world is constantly out of sorts on what common measurements are. It’s like how monolingual non-English-speaking people are constantly aware they’re not speaking the natural language of English.

The “magnetic forces do no work” thing is maddening.
The guy who is ‘the guy’ for that level of physics textbooks just happens to be determined to prove a non-quantum mechanics based explanation of magnetism so the book is written from that perspective without actually saying it. Of course.
