GrapheneOS on a Pixel 5. It is very nice and I would recommend it.

GrapheneOS. I love it. I migrated from the Apple ecosystem about two years ago into the FOSS and Linux world and haven’t looked back.
LineageOS on a Fairphone 3. It works well for what I do on my phone.
I use this little niche OS called iOS, made by some fruit company.
Oh that. I heard the project leader died of a perfectly curable form of cancer because he was going to heal himself with food or something. Crazy story, but the OS works well.

OnePlus Nord (the last phones before were OP 1, 3 and 5, great value phones imo), LineageOS. Had to use the unofficial version for a while, but they are official again, now.
I hate modern phones, especially the giant ones that people seem to like nowadays. My 2 favourite phones are my last pre-Android Phones (Nokia E71, blackberry style, with full kb), and my first Android the HTC Desire Z (T-Mobile G2 in the US; fold out full keyboard). I don’t need fancy cameras, and I don’t need a high-powered CPU.
Considering I’ve been using Android for about 13 years, I have probably been on an official ROM for less than a week :D Back then, I experimented a lot, custom kernels, custom roms, (nandroid backup really helped with that, a full phone backup that’s easy to restore, I miss that) I’ve even encountered ROMs that don’t have the mandatory feature of using volume control to move the text cursor, how do people live without that?
Anyway, now I just use LineageOS with no custom kernel. When I get a new phone (and I only get those with LineageOS available, for the Nord it was a bit annoying that they dropped support 2 months after I got it …), I flash it on arrival.
You sound like me. I don’t like large phones. The Nexus 5 was a perfect size. And I don’t use stock ROMs. I flash a phone as soon as I get it.
Hah, never had the 5, but I did really like my Nexus 4, I think it might still be in one of my drawers :D
LineageOS with microg on a s10+. It works great, no issues with apps not working but still have minimal google dipping it’s fingers into my life.
I only buy phones now that will support a custom ROM, I can’t go back now.
CalyxOS on a Pixel 5. Its nice and micro G works fine in most situations. When I have the time though, I’m probably going to try graphine os with sandboxed google play and see how that works for me.

Same but on Pixel 6. Though I caved in and installed the sandboxed Google Play to run bank apps, fortunately they do work that way without problems.
What do you use for sanbox?
Is it a solution similar to Island, Shelter, etc or is this something different?I installed it the way the guide on GrapheneOS site explained.
Same but on a Pixel 6a. It’s good for the most part. I don’t use this phone for calls/sms so I wish I could just disable that while retaining mobile data, but I haven’t figured that out yet really.
I read you can delete any stock apps like Phone and SMS Messaging by connecting your phone to a computer and using adb (does not require root). I haven’t tried it but you can search online about using adb.
Man I remember the days of xda and custom Roma holy shit. Nexus 5 was the one, slimrom was the way. Ahh memories.
I recently flashed LineageOS on my old Note 4 that had previously ran a few custom ROMs but other than that haven’t used one in years since I haven’t had a need with my last LG or current Samsung phone.
These days there’s more of a need for custom hardware like a headphone jack or SD card slot but unfortunately those can’t just be flashed to a phone like a ROM can. The software/firmware side of things has been fine for me.

The Nexus 5 was my favorite phone ever. Perfect form factor. I still miss it. I ran LOS on it. Also tried SlimRom and a couple of others.
GrapheneOS on a Pixel 7, having a great experience with it.
LineageOS on a Moto One 5G Ace. Soon to be replaced with a OnePlus Nord N200 because the charging port of all things is failing.

Generally,when my charging ports start failing it’s due to there being pocket lint in the charging port.
The easiest way to fix the problem is a thinned down toothpick or the back of a tooth flosser, that is assuming that is the problem for you.
I miss LineageOS. My current nokia has next to no scene. The thing I miss the most is holding the volume keys as prev/fwd buttons.
It doesn’t do that in the stock ROM? That seems like a basic feature to me.
It’s ridiculous, there are even many custom ROMs that don’t support it. But then most people on the internet don’t correct typos anyway, it’s probably related.
Pixel Experience
I’m using GrapheneOS on a Pixel 6a, it’s great.
Man, got the 7a in May and the 1080p screen + 64 megapixel camera made me spend the extra $50 to not get the 6a. Blown away with both for the price. Regardless, Graphene here too.
