Being anxious and depressed is directly related to your awareness of the world around you. It’s not okay to be okay.
The only value this human existence creates is for a select few to live a life of ultimate hedonism. We’re cattle, forced to reproduce to keep the consumptions flowing all the while having every aspect of our interests and personalities manipulated and mined for a few more pennies. Inevitably we’ll be kept alive far beyond our best by date so that our failing minds can be used to pressured into voting the wrong people into power to ensure the cycle continues. It’s a machine of suffering.
Also, the irony of the image above being most likely AI generated isn’t lost on me.
Positive nihilism is coping. Choosing to be happy while being crushed is coping. The truth is suffering is the point and has been for nearly as long as humans have been around. Those of you that choose happiness are impling that those of us that aren’t happy are choosing the pain. You’re putting the onus on us. It’s nice that you’ve found a path that works for you.

Fun read, but the zinger of “it… Just… Isn’t… Important” really damages your argument.
The difference in knowing how our technological systems work versus just using them is how you wind up in a world where capitalist rule, intelligence dwindles and choice is stolen. We’re seeing these effects in real time. And it’s just not technology; take the electoral system here in the US. It stopped being about the functions of our government and became flag waving and baby kissing. Now our tax dollars kill children, the rich are all but unstoppable and we’re at each other’s throats all because we, collectively, let the systems work without understanding how and why.
Tech today being a glass and aluminum block feeds our lust, insecurity, inequality, comparison etc all in an effort to generate wealth and further divide, all by design. Didn’t you think it’s very important to know that?

This pisses me off. I can’t make the world a better place. We can’t make it a better place. We are the very reason it’s as bad as it is! Squirrels aren’t out there with ponzi schemes. Toads aren’t building machines that destroy natural resources. Scorpions aren’t committing genocide in the name of a made up God so they can take land from other scorpions. We are the only thing on this planet that does not fit into the systems that exist. I know that kind of statement bothers people because you believe yourselves to be good because your aren’t X, but everything you and I do causes suffering. Everything.
Oh to be young and still idealistic…
No I’ve recognized the virus-like existence of humans for the bulk of my 43 years. We have the capacity to do better, but don’t and that’s what makes us so fucking awful.
No one thinks they’re a bad person, but bad people exist.
