I haven’t used a single TV/receiver back in the day that worked first try. You’d have to twist that one port, pull the other one out slightly, or constantly try to push it upwards to get a good signal. Kids really don’t know how good they have it with HDMI.

Whew, I instantly feel validated in my decision to leave Reddit. If this gets applied it will encourage a bot apocalypse in Reddit, which is already something they’re struggling with.

I would totally use and recommend kbin to everyone but only after a few days. The server still crashes a lot. The dev is doing their best though and I can’t wait to go back when things settle down!

And I would really put OnlyOffice in there. It’s by far the most polished of the bunch nowadays.

Eh, this was already the case on Reddit to an extent, but the point is moderators really carried the platform on their backs and if many of them really do leave then Reddit will collapse as a useful platform with actual discussion.

I would be cautious too if I were a sub owner and guiding people to an alternative honestly. Lemmy and Kbin both are relatively unstable right now, even if they are pretty good. Waiting a little to see which instances are more stable and likely to last is a good move before planting people somewhere and making an official replacement sub.

It’s honestly amazing how much interest Kbin has gotten despite constant server issues and no federation. I expected it to be a little less active but when I visited there was a bustling community there! I hope they open federation soon so I can spend more time there.

Feels like AI creators can only get away with using pre-2022 data for so long. At some point the information will be outdated and they’ll have to train on newer data, and it’ll be interesting to see if this is a problem that can be solved without harming the dataset’s quality.

My guess is they’d need to have an AI that tries to find blatantly AI generated data and take it out of the dataset. It won’t be 100% accurate, but it’ll be better than nothing.

Absolutely not. Aside from the fact that it’s a whopping $3500, it’s a first gen product with a 2 hour battery (advertised, probably less in reality) and most of what was shown were gimmicks. Nobody’s going to put on a bulky headset to record videos and browse the internet. If the Meta Quest couldn’t break into the mainstream at less than fifth of the price, this won’t.

The only reason for the insane hype is “it’s Apple” but I think everyone knows AR headsets aren’t ready for the public yet.

It reminds me of when people went insane over the Hololens. Granted, this is way more polished, but I see it going in a similar path.
