  • Most games on steam have no drm. Once you’ve installed them, you can do whatever you want with them. Steam isn’t adding drm to everything. The number one best thing about steam is the social integration, the pure simplicity of being able to right click on a friend and hit join game to be able to play with them is amazing. Basically, steam makes things simpler, and other “launchers” are simply ad platforms forced in as a layer between you clicking play and the game opening.

  • That is one of the reasons I haven’t killed myself yet

    • It would make people I hate happy
    • It would hurt my parents and sister
    • I’m too much of a lazy piece of shit to set up a will to leave money to friends who need it
    • It’s way too many notes to write
    • Doing it painlessly and panic-lessly requires work and setup that I’m too much of a lazy piece of shit to do

It’s like, imagine you’re renting a house with a few people and one of the people none of the housemates really like (they don’t follow the house rules everyone has agreed on) marches in and announces “We all, as a group, are moving to Florida!” And then moves out and takes the refrigerator and expects you to follow. No thanks, good riddance, we’re getting a new fridge and a better housemate.

They can do whatever they want with the space, paint it blue, burn it, close it, whatever. They shouldn’t expect people to follow them.

You’re overlooking that the users don’t want to move. The mods seem to think that they’re the reason we use 196 and that they can just pack us into a suitcase and take us wherever they like, when the fact is we use blahaj zone for a reason and they can’t take us anywhere. They’re perfectly free to close the sub and make a new one elsewhere, but no one’s going to follow them.

  • Sorry, I think there’s a bit of miscommunication here. I’m one of the people who made that comment and I meant community in the people sense, and not in the subreddit sense. They can take their subreddit and move it, shred it, burn it, paint it blue, whatever. The point is, they seem to think of the people using the space as something that belongs to them, and that they can just take those people wherever they please. In reality, they have to rely on people following them, they can’t just pack them up and move them, and it’s very apparent that it’s a very unpopular decision and clear that no one is going to follow them to world.

I’m just upset at the arrogance of them pretending they’re doing this for the good of the users when they asked no one. What makes a community great is the people in it, not the people “running” it (using the term loosely, as them actually having to do things is the reason they wanted to move). If they didn’t like it, they could’ve just passed it off to other people, but instead decided to try to pack us into a suitcase and leave.
