Yep, but don’t worry I’m sure they’re busy vibe coding an update to teams to allow outside calls once you sign up for a phone subscription.

We never had the ability to make outside calls from teams, only teams to teams calls. We went from physical phones on desks to Cisco soft phone since lockdown.
For the last few weeks YouTube has been serving me ads for ladies Gillette razors. My Google profile shows I’m a 41 year old straight male. Most ads are totally not relevant but this one is… out there.
There’s openings in other parts of the company, though I do have it good otherwise in my current department so I will have to do some research this weekend. The major limiting factor for me is that I’m region locked due to family constraints. As for taking my team with me…there’s only one person I would want to take and he’s basically right where he wants to be, so he’s not leaving.
Well the team is already WFH, but I am hoping that the job turns into a slight promotion and I will mention that during the next meeting with the department head. Also weighing my options with other parts of the company.
Yes but, I just found out that I’m so competent and trustworthy that since management needs to shuffle the supervisors around and the only way to make it work is to leave me in charge of the team for several hours without a supervisor. So now I’m looking at “we’d love to promote you but you’re just to valuable in your current role”. It a damned of you do, damned if you don’t situation.

I can see that, I have a few people now who I know aren’t going to listen, so I tell them the correct way and then sit back and watch them do something completely different.
oppy1984@lemdro.idto memes@lemmy.world•I'm glad to be here with the rest of you old fogeysEnglish8·18 days agoEh, don’t sweat it. I’m 41, and I still find myself feeling the same way when my manager is talking… and he’s younger than me. I’ve been told you reach a point where you just don’t care anymore but my supervisor is 52 with two grown children and says she still gets that feeling from time to time, so who knows how true it is.
Now for the “get off my lawn” portion of the reply. I can remember in 1991 my aunt was working for a legal firm and running documents around for them, they needed instant contact so they paid big bucks to have a mobile phone installed in her car. It cost a ridiculous amount per minute to talk on. One day she was talking me to McDonald’s and I asked why she had a phone in her car since she couldn’t plug it in, after she explained it to me I asked if I could call my dad, she said yes but make it quick. She dialed his number at work and handed me the phone. When he answered I blurted out “hi dad I’m calling from Aunt Juanita’s car! Have to be quick, bye” and before she could stop me I hung up the phone.
She called him back to apologize and let him know everything was ok, then handed the phone to me so my dad could lecture me about phone etiquette and tell me to be good for Aunt Juanita.
Also I remember being excited to get to go to the school library to play Oregon trail on the green screen computer and having to swap out 5 inch floppy disks throughout the game to move to the next part.
Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to take some ibuprofen as all this typing is aggravating my joints. LoL.

Ah yes the vacation disassociation time, it nice to escape the external horrors once in a while to just your own internal horrors, it’s like a warm blanket before the waterboarding.
Well that makes sense, pro business DeWine does something that hurts the workers.
To quote the bird from the Flintstones “It’s a living”. Honestly I don’t hate my job, bored and annoyed with some stuff, but they treat us plebs with a fair amount of decency, plus they pay us decently compared to the rest of the industry.
Interesting, in Ohio you have to clock out before the 6th hour.
Yep, I work for a fortune 500 and I have to clock out for lunch.
I put together a chair for my mom and they included a consumer grade T-hex with a molded plastic and rubber handle. This was for a single $120 wooden chair. It’s now in my toolbox next to my multi size hex key tool.
I am a world renowned bad speller, so I thank you for your patience with me.
Or just accept it as another form of humor and laugh at it if you find it funny.
We have teams for business but I would bet the call out feature is blocked. We started using zoom for management level meetings because a r supervisor who was on vacation needed to be included. So either management doesn’t know about the call out feature (entirely likely) or our IT blocks it.
Now I’m curious, maybe I’ll try calling my cell phone on Monday to see if it works or not.
