At this point I am not sure we are talking about the same thing. The picture in the post clearly represents European trams. I have not witnessed one argument with a driver despite using European public transport on a daily basis.

Self-driving future doesn’t seem to be that far away, and I imagine it to be even simpler on rails. Either way, the key is to get people off those nasty things they call “cars” and take it from there.

What I meant was that “they” can not just simply erase “us” from existence once we stop providing them enough value, I believe in a revolution of some kind if such practices were to be tried.
Though I do not believe it would be rational nor beneficial for the elites at the first place, I was just pointing out that there is little chance of that happening.
After 3 years of using MacOS as a main OS, I am more than convinced it was indeed the intention.
