I agree with fuck cars but anywhere outside of Urban centers in the United States no personal vehicles would be absolutely untenable. It’s almost every month I have to drive on a dirt road that I am not biking.
And the most dangerous are the extremes on both ends encountering each other. It’s crazy to me how normalized vehicles are considering the death that they cause, the behavior people exhibit on the roads, and the sheer absolute ignorance that seems to be paid to making them safer. Maybe it’s just apathy?
Meanwhile in the U.S. with ✌️ speed limits ✌️ everyone goes 10 over and the exceptions are 20-30mph over.

I believe there is some support of green threads with Tokio configuration but I’m not 100% sure and am just writing off the top of my head because nobody has responded yet.

I can get dynamically composed displays based on what I’m working on. Sometimes I don’t want to be totally cut off by monitor space, sometimes I need lots of vertical windows.
I can use it on a plane.
I can use it in a hotel room
It’s a desktop experience with a slightly more inconvenient format then a laptop.
Super interested in the idea but also NEED augmented reality for this similar to Apple’s headset capabilities.
I was actually really interested in the Vision pro for those use case until Simula pointed out that it’s based on iOS. This is what effectively killed the iPad for me as well. The platform just isn’t there yet in work class productivity. That’s a huge disappointment.

Apparently it came from a 90 minute talk by a Toyota Australia executive. And the assumption is that the power grid supplying the BEVs are dirty in comparison to the hybrids which reduce CO2 in their power generation/efficiency.

This really smells of bullshit because it really doesn’t have anything to do with choosing one or the other.
We should be choosing BEVs and also putting tremendous effort on the power grid to go renewable energy.

It was because the math on carbon pollution from EVs showed their hybrids were better for the environment compared to the manufacturing CO2 emissions in making batteries.
Toyota is being brought to the EV market kicking and screaming because it’s not actually better for the environment.
At least that’s what I read. I’ll be honest I’d not have a source off the top of my head so take it with a grain of salt.

Curious. Could you 3d print a propeller or does it demand some sort of higher quality manufacturing process? For a DIY drone project slapping some toroidal propellers just to test it out seems doable.

I’ve been there and what I’ve found is that if you are like how I was. I falsely correlated analysis of the universe and the discovery of it’s harshness with how I was feeling and probably erroneously ignored my bias (because I was depressed) to focus on negative realizations.
It was my caustic family environment, my lack of individual freedom, poor sleep, poor diet that was making me miserable.
If you’re feeling this way you need to look into Mindfulness and why existence even in its brutally bleak appearance can be an enjoyable quiet morning listening to crickets as you wake up, or being aware of noisy air vent that sounds interesting, or even the curiosities of your own wandering mind.
Our experience of existence is relative to our framing. Emotional intelligence is learning to side step the current and enjoy observing the river.
