I love the ideals of the free software movement but RMS is so toxic that I won’t associate myself with it while he’s tolerated.

I’m definitely making fun of the original post. “Your phone is bad and you should feel bad based on this cherry picked set of metrics” is one of the dumbest debates of all time. Right up there with “my OS is better than your OS”.

Let people like what they like.

But if we don’t make the kind of phone we use our entire identity how will we know who we’re totally better than?

I’d like to go to the Philippines someday, and I really dislike the stereotypes presented that there could only possibly be one reason.

I’ve spent about a quarter of my life training in the martial art arnis; I’m knowledgeable enough that I have taught or helped to teach classes myself. I would love to go to the land where it was born and train with masters there… which just happens to be the Philippines.

I’m also a software developer by trade and have worked with a few people who my company outsourced from the Philippines. A couple of them have really been a delight to work with and I would really like to travel and hang out with them.

It’s irritating that I need to include a wall of text to justify that I may have a non creep reason to want to travel. Thanks a lot, actual creeps ruining things for the rest of us.

Apple has their own set of issues for sure, but I don’t think they’re comparable to the spyware advertising conglomerate that is Google.

I’m fighting the good fight by using Safari to browse and Kagi to search. I have effectively eliminated Google from my life and I could not be happier about it.

Wasps don’t give a fuck about you; don’t walk up to their nests and slap them and you’ll be fine. They’re defensive creatures rather than aggressive.

They also serve as excellent pest control. I tend to just leave them be unless they build a nest near a door that would be problematic.

Hornets, on the other hand, are indeed aggressive and can indeed go fuck themselves.

30mph on a pedal bicycle is very very difficult to reach and maintain. Even on a road bike designed to go fast on pavement, breaking 20mph on a flat road requires you to be extremely fit and streamlined.

I don’t think this is in any way comparable to an ebike where anyone can jump on and break 20 with no issues.

Source: bicycle was my primary mode of transport for 5 years; rode about 20 miles a day, with an attached speedometer, on a fancy road bike.
