Sounds like the Dutch and Germans aren’t that different after all. Ours also ran over stuff with their tractors, blocked highways, rammed the main entrance of a city hall, and did some casual intimidation at a politician’s home address. Peaceful folk they are.
The “normal” forms of protest just don’t cut it anymore. When is the last time you’ve heard about one, let alone seen one? It’s a (relatively) harmless shout for attention for a very dire problem.
Isn’t that just social housing? Commercial landlords (particuliere huur) don’t really care that much about requirements, other than you having a certain level of income. (And they might demand a ridiculous income at that)

I think the whole step to integrate with the fediverse would have taken too much time and too many resources. Seems like a massive rewrite of the codebase to me, if it wasn’t taken into account from the very start.

Another advantage of having your own domain for email is that you can just pack your shit and move to greener pastures when your current email provider turns to shit. No need to change your email everywhere.
I never really got this argument, to be honest. I put mine on the charger when I take a shower in the morning. If I did a long workout that day, shortly before bed, too. Other than that, I wear mine day and night. It really doesn’t feel like a big deal to me. I wouldn’t wear a mechanical (or quartz) watch in the shower either.
Is it really Americanisation when several countries have been doing this for decades already? The Dutch even did it with their old currency (gulden), though it would be f 2,50 (with a space, and a fancier f than this one)

Seems like my memories about my calculations were a little off. It’s €350 per month for 15k km. Upping it to 20k km would make it around €400, which, insanely enough, is still cheaper than public transport. 😐
Our car is a little above “a cheap car”, perhaps. But taking into account 4 days on site, you get about 20k km per year (assuming 52 weeks). With maintenance and other costs, including putting money aside for when this car is to be replaced, we reserve about €300 a month. That is including fuel for those 20k km per year. Getting a “traject vrij” (free travel on a certain route) subscription from the railways is, I kid you not, €400 a month. Even more expensive than when I looked last time. 🥲 Edit: forgot to mention you’ll need the bus as well, which is around €2 per ride. Around €70 euros per month extra. Cheaper than getting a discount subscription (€18 per month + €55 in fares) or a total subscription for the bus (€97 per month)
