3·3 months agoThe way Siri works it will misunderstand ’I’m hungry’ and say “I found some web results for you…”
He’s made many of my favorite all time content with his bodybuilding.com piece easily at #1.
Would be hilarious if AI killed us all as foretold but it was the bubble and resulting depression that did it and not the actual tech
Damn it, Greg!
Oh yeah littletranspunk@lemmus.org already pointed that out here
Huh I’ll be a monkey’s uncle. Didn’t even know they were still making them.
Shame it isn’t a white Bronco is all
It seems like overnight everyone decided the wide leg hip huggers were back in style. And I remember someone telling me 25 years ago that I should keep mine so this wasn’t entirely unexpected.
It’s sort of the same in the USA, in that evangelical is a broadly used term in the Christian community. For instance, there’s a massive association of churches call the Evangelical Lutheran Churches in America (ELCA). Among other things, they consider themselves ‘reconciling’ churches whose duty it is to right the intolerance towards LGBTQ that has plagued religion through the years. They’re not perfect and can have their own issues with prejudice and coercion, but they are massively better than the Evangelicals the USA and MAGA is famous for.
Oh I should have specified, this is just my own system. I agree, it wouldn’t be fair to apply it to public 5-star systems no matter how strongly I feel like this is the proper way to rate things.
I have a very similar system only from a subjective personal angle:
- I hated it
- I didn’t like it
- It was fine
- I really liked it
- I loved it
So most get 3, some get 2 or 4, only the few special ones get 1 or 5.
I’ve always noted with a certain cynicism that the old nomenclature for the workday ‘9-5’ adds up to eight hours. Surely these people weren’t missing lunch…
This culture war nonsense has ruined us. In a humane world a person should be embarrassed and shamed for saying something like ‘what if I don’t feel comfortable with their lifestyle’ - in ANY situation, not to mention a medical one. How about just some basic human decency? What about live and let live? Ideas that we’d all want for ourselves but somehow some of us find it so difficult to afford to others.
And before anyone comes at me with some ‘paradox of tolerance’ nonsense - no, in the tolerant world I dream of, there is no room for the intolerant. We cannot tolerate the intolerant if we want to live in a tolerant world.
My partner hates them so I always try to get them to a safe location as soon as I see one.
This is true, they describe themselves as descriptive rather than prescriptive: https://www.merriam-webster.com/grammar/descriptive-vs-prescriptive-defining-lexicography
That one I can almost see happening but not full ‘upload’ style. It would have to be gradual in like a Ship of Theseus’ style where the parts that make you ‘you’ are gradually replaced with digital equivalents.

Yeah designers and illustrators have been using sloppy technical shortcuts since long before AI, speaking as a designer/illustrator
