I don’t need that many cables! But I thought I’d wire up the entire switch and that was I could play with port configs by changing the patch cables.
The tp link jetstream is decent. They’re managed (with a proper ios like cli!) There’s also access points that can tie into them nicely.
The PFSense build is 6 or 7 years old now. Its one of the supermicro embedded boards. Probably an x9. It has an ssd, 4 1gbe ports and 8gb of RAM. It can handle lots of rules, and lots of traffic!
I tinkered with the same idea when I built my Nas a few years back. Decided against it and went with raidz2.

Side note: I’ll be updating my lab to rancher harvester W/ k8s this weekend, so I’ll be using Longhorn for storage. Should be interesting!
