I’m kind of glad tbh, this community constantly shows up on the front page and I gets tiring seeing so many posts contain “rule”.

Even when I do stay on my instance, I randomly get logged out every few minutes. Only happens on my iPhone, never my computer, but it heavily discourages me from upvoting let alone posting.
Also the fact I have to select the language every time is really annoying. When have I ever posted something not in “English”?
your average toilet uses 3-5 gallons per flush
I’m pretty sure toilets generally use 1.6 gallons per flush, and that’s a legal mandate.
Source: used to have an autistic obsession with them.
I do wish these appeared more on the front page though. Subscribing and curating my feed should be reserved for niche content IMO, not general communities like movies and art. Sadly the fediverse seems to lack real niche content too. Meanwhile TikTok (and similar sites) have an algorithm that feeds you interesting content you wouldn’t even think to look for. And both TikTok and RedNote have a large existing user base to provide all sorts of content.
Maybe people want a platform that’s more than just a constant Linux and capitalism-bad circlejerk sprinkled with some basic news and askreddit-type threads.
Aren’t liberals and leftists the same thing? Everyone seems to agree that capitalism is bad, the government should provide more social services, our democratic leaders suck (but we should vote for them anyway because republicans are worse), etc.
Honestly Lemmy seems more like a circlejerk than a divide, the only divide I see is how far we need to go to fix/destroy the system. I don’t think I’ve seen a single conservative voice, which is pretty surprising considering Trump apparently won the popular vote, and I’d expect I’d at least see someone from the other side.
They probably mean that they use pictures of Nintendo Luigi in memes about the shooting (in place of pictures of the human Luigi), not that people select Luigi as a character more often in a certain video game.
I know it feels as bad as Reddit
Glad I’m on iPhone where I don’t have to worry about “launchers” and everything works out of the box.
Why would I read a long, padded, ad-riddled article when I can get a quick and accurate TL;DR in the title and expert commentary in the comments?
You forgot Unity! Every time they’re mentioned, people say just use Godot…
I had a semi-similar issue where games would randomly “freeze” - or rather, you could still hear stuff happening and reacting to key inputs, but the screen was completely frozen. Turns out slightly lowering the clock speed of my GPU basically fixed the issue. I wonder if something similar would be able to extend the life of your GPU too.
Yes, as someone who doesn’t use third party apps, I’d like to know this too.
