What if I told you NOBODY’s opinions of you meant shit?

Well, “everyone” being radicals online who think that everything is some sort of call to war. Normal people realize what it is. There are sprinkles of sane people here on Lemmy, but they’re drowned out by the crazies.

Nothing worse to people on Lemmy than another person with a SLIGHTLY different world view.

This somehow manages to cause us to backslide. Pride messaging ends up selling well. People who aren’t into it, but aren’t really bigots are like “eh cool, equality sounds great”. Obviously the communities that it targets, it’s working on. The people who don’t like it - aren’t gonna cause a big fuss about it, so the buy their shit and get out.

But then the problem becomes those same people who said nothing in the store - and those who aren’t actively “into” it, are now seeing it everywhere. And they aren’t tying it in their minds to an equality movement, they’re tying it to advertising. But you know how the advertising gets - it’s kind of “fad”-y. Well, the rainbow advertising ‘fad’ as been going on for quite some time.

So now, LGBT stuff is “everywhere”, but - people are growing tired of it for the wrong reasons. They’re growing tired of the advertising side of it, and it’s causing problems on the human-rights side of it…

My family and I are devout followers of the Satanic Temple (Not really ‘Satanists’ per-se however); and while yes - I know there are some problematic issues with the leadership, they still use what they are doing in a hilarious way to troll our government when they create christian-centered laws. A lot of what they stand for mirrors my own personal moral code before I ever discovered them. The freedom to offend, is just as important as the freedom of bodily autonomy. Without it, it’s impossible to push for changes.

You weirdo perpetually online Lemmy users always jump to the transphobic conclusion. I’ve been labeled that even though I’m not so many times it’s not even funny any longer. But you pull some reddit-tier shit and judge someone based on some cherry-picked history; and then have the balls to tell me to go back to Reddit while exhibiting that same behavior. Hilarious!

Reddit-tier behavior right here. Because you’re just looking at the mod log and attributing every thing ever modded to my entire history of posts. I participate in lots of communities, and a majority of my stuff isn’t ever modded or deleted.

And it’s actually worse over here, because instance admins have access to the history of your up/downvotes, so they can dive even DEEPER and have been caught doing that exact thing.

But way to miss the point - and then go even deeper in proving the point I was making; and being a great example of that point.

One, there isn’t some governing body for the term “Tankie”.

It’s called a dictionary. And even though there are many of them, they agree on the definition. Words mean things. Kinda cool how that works.

They are certainly not Right Wing though.

The officially recognized definition of a Tankie is one who is a strong supporter of communism. Which, I think we all agree is considered a “left” wing ideal.

It’s also strongly authoritarian, but it’s solidly in the authoritarian left. So people calling others “Tankies” are, in theory, more right-wing than the people they’re insulting. It’s a left-punching insult.

Usually these people are strong supporters of China and the old Soviet Union and are staunch critics of ‘imperialist’ nations such as Britain and the USA.

The fact that you can claim this unironically, speaks volumes of your ignorance.

When the AI bubble bursts, it isn’t going away either. It replaces too much labor. Training the AI models is expensive, but running them isn’t. Especially on Lemmy, too many dullards don’t understand why AI is so popular; it’s because it’s replacing your job - or allowing 1 person to do the jobs of 10.

Most crypto mining outfits undervolt their cards for lower power usage. They aren’t cranking them as you say they are. A dead GPU doesn’t produce anything for you; cranking it up the chance that it will fail. You’re better off running it an extra 4 years at a lower voltage than you are cranking it for 1.

Because yes, “the left” never changes anything, and only goes further right.

Over the decades we’ve made massive strides in equal rights for various marginalized groups. But sometimes the dance takes a step backwards before moving forward again.

Even families - watch one family member with wealth die, and watch them all clamor for the remains. Humanity is not selfless. Pretending so is purposely remaining blind and ignorant to humanity’s true nature. “In Group”, “Out Group”…doesn’t matter one bit.

Even within the “in group”, humans still show patterns of greed, dishonesty, etc. Con artists are a great example of this; people who will slip into the group and then work only for themselves.

Yeah, QWERTY was absolutely used to slow down typing as well, but it had a secondary function of spreading out the letters.

DVORAK just has the one function. It didn’t have to contend with other baggage. But it doesn’t mean QWERTY didn’t also have that goal. But since QWERTY handles the same goal that DVORAK does, reasonably well, it doesn’t hit the threshold needed for us to swap over.

Additionally, DVORAK is kind of nasty because it has all of the vowels on the left hand. I just picked a random word “Control” and most of the work is being done by the right hand; most of the time on the same finger row, which is horribly inefficient. Control on QWERTY is roughly equally left and right handed; not clusters of similarly used letters.

A common estimate of the ratio of vowels to consanants in the english language is 3:1 – So you’ll be doing 3x as much work on your right hand than with your left. Which makes DVORAK kind of garbage tbh.

I don’t know how many of you realize this, but our true “Humanity” is being the most violent, ruthless apes in the jungle. Just because we managed to become smart and then used smarts in our violence, doesn’t mean we’re not all still at the core, violent psychopathic apes.

We haven’t lost our humanity at all, it’s on full display for the world to see.

Our “civility” on the other hand, absolutely - is taking a back seat right now. But civility is a social construct.
