Doctor has told me that it’s PCS and it seems consistent with my experience and has been happening to me for at least 10 years. Maybe it’s placaebo but lying down helps for me. I try not to take a deep slow breath cause it’s obviously really painful
edit: and “all the time” is an exaggeration, maybe once a month or less

Happens to me all the time, usually goes away after lying down even for just a moment or pounding on my chest. One time it didn’t go away though and lasted like 48 hours 😩

Anime is a really good tool if it’s something you’re into. Just have a dictionary pulled up if you hear words you don’t know. I’ve been studying Japanese for ~5 years now and the first 2 years were mostly just listening to anime and doing kanji flashcards. You can get surprisingly far with just anime, but yeah it can’t be the only tool. 勉強は頑張ってください 🙂

I think it’s interesting that 4chan has invented “anon” as, functionally, a naturally occurring genderless neopronoun. I would argue even more genderless than xe/xim because while xe/xim was created in relation to gender, anon was created with no connection to gender at all. Xe/xim is “not he or she” whereas anon is he, she, they, xe, or anything else.
There’s other words as well (homie, oomfie, bestie) that are functionally genderless neopronouns although these (and anon) are commonly used alongside gendered pronouns eg: anon posted his greentext on 4chan, I visited bestie and her dog.
Now I’m not recommending that anybody starts using anon/bestie pronouns or anything, cause if bestie wants to do that then bestie will have to deal with how awkward it sounds. But, I’m generally more partial towards these absolutely genderless naturally-occurring neopronouns over the relatively genderless constructed xe/xim. And I’m curious if anybody else has thoughts about these.

Lots of other languages have days named after the sun, moon, and 5 planets or the gods associated with the planets. Obviously we have Sunday and Monday, or lunes in Spanish, but that’s also why in Spanish, Mars = Marte, Tuesday = Martes. Probably most famously in English is Thursday coming from Thor’s day (Þunras dag) with Thor being the equivalent to Zeus or Jupiter, which is where jueves comes from in Spanish. In Spanish though their sun-day got remained to God’s day (domingo) and saturn-day to sabbath (sabado). Probably most interesting is that the connection even applies to Japanese. The days go in this order: 日月火水木金土 which means “sun moon fire water wood metal earth” which are the classical Chinese 5 elements connected to everything from the 60-year sexagisimal calendar to the bagua tao trigrams on the Republic of Korea flag. And if course, they’re also the names of the planets with Mars being fire-planet, Mercury being water-planet, Jupiter being wood-planet, Venus being metal-planet, and Saturn being earth-planet.

So the planet Jupiter (etc.) is to some degree represented in the Thursdays (etc.) of three different languages. Not really saying that this makes more sense than Portuguese, but I think it’s cool

My thought isn’t that 34° is (or isn’t) a problem, rather that without knowing where it is it doesn’t really mean very much. If OP is in Dubai or northern Mexico or something then 🤷‍♀️ 34 sounds pretty normal. I just think the post would make more sense with some context.
It’s always 34° somewhere in the world.

We don’t know where OP’s father lives so it’s kinda hard to think of 34° as anything particularly remarkable without any context. It’s 41° where I am right now.

The way that everyone else seems to be getting along normally in their lives, maybe even having fun reading through this thread, while you’re getting angry and “shouting” reminded me of a line from The Count of Monte Cristo, where the count is trying to persuade a similarly unhappy person of the existence of a god.

Which is not to say that it’s a good argument; it’s actually pretty bad.
“Look at how fortunate I am to believe in my thing, and how unfortunate you are to believe in yours” when their beliefs are totally incidental.
But rereading it made me think about how little it matters about whose perspective is “correct” about something like that. To put it simply, there are plenty of “good people” in the world and there’s also plenty of “bad people”. Whether or not you choose to see good or bad is (in large part) up to you. Neither way is “right” or “wrong”.

I think you would be happier if you tried to look for good instead of bad, but as you’ve stated, that’s not a goal of yours. I don’t think that you really have any more “moral integrity” than the other side though. While I’m not asking you to abandon your point of view, I think you should realize that there is a reason why your viewpoint is not very popular; it seems that you’ve had negative experiences that have caused you to become cynical about human nature but here’s a rough analysis of the numbers: the fact that most people are not that cynical is evidence that most people don’t have it that bad. People aren’t wrong to believe in good human nature when that’s what their experiences reflect. They’re coming to conclusions in the same way you are, just the other way around.

If your experiences have been so negative, that’s an alright thing to base your views on. But I hope that you find more positive experiences in the future that might change your mind. You probably won’t find it on Lemmy.
