I do the same… and i guess i am burnt out by lack of interesting and consistent work to do.

aspects of my job I absolutely hate:

1. Maintaining a DLL( or shared object) in a large piece of software where my team’s scope is so narrow that we are just a conduit between two other processes. bugs get introduced by behavioral changes from upstream or downstream.

2. No real exiciting problem to solve.

I learnt Compiler design, Complexity theory, Concurrency, Algorithms, etc in college. But I look at bad code that does if (boolvar) return 1; else return 0;

3. Constantly get shuffled around on tasks by my manager who goes into panic mode if his supervisor asks about something.

Its essentially a trade of your soul for writing emails.

Really? Are you really genuinely ignorant or you simply can’t fathom that non-US people not only exist but also lead happier lives?

It doesnt get boring hearing about how judges demolish bodily autonomy of women and commit other atrocities in the name of corporate freedom.

I don’t agree with that user on most of the stuff but when it comes to israel you guys make them look like a normal person.

The point I was trying to make (and I should have made properly) is that paid software has a free tier supported by ads. It being paid is just a trigger that makes me think “are they injecting google’s code in their product”. And if they are then your data IS being collected without your consent or knowledge by Google. (Same goes for any other “ad” provider). Who knows what the google API call takes?

Google adsense collects data.

No man I get the point of paid apps. I don’t think it should collect and sell data. That’s the poison pill with this whole deal.

Then you don’t understand the fediverse my friend. These “clients” are monetizing something that’s free.
