That’s sort of how I’m understanding it, they’re talking about the build process specifically and want to re-base their toolset to BSD/Linux. Not sure what their current build process entails but like you said it could be they’re currently stuck with some sort of proprietary / Apple specific software.

I don’t think it’s possible, or at least not in the way you’re thinking. Encoding a video with lossless flags usually results in a file size bigger or about the same as the source, and on top of that it takes a long time to actually do the encode.

Video is already highly compressed.

But for sure you can tinker around with ffmpeg (FOSS) & see how it goes for you. I’ve done it in the past just for kicks since some of the common video codec encoders do have lossless flags but it really wasn’t worth the effort.

EDIT: That’s just the video in the file, you also have to contend with the audio. That’s a bit easier if you just want to use ffmpeg to dump everything into FLAC but again, I don’t think you’re saving much hard drive space if any.

Not only that, these presumably would all be old posts/comments being re-posted with current date/time. Maybe best to make sure the specific community or instance you’re sending this to accepts old Reddit content.

Interestingly this could be a use-case for Lemmy users having their own self named communities where they can dump old post/comment data into if they wish. e.g. for you it would be https://sopuli.xyz/c/MentalEdge (if it had existed).

Are you asking for new router suggestions? Or you meant bandwidth monitoring for just one device on your network?

That sort of info is best recorded at the router level. pfSense has packages you can install that record bandwidth usage & are useful for that. Not sure about OPNsense but I think (?) that would have something similar.

Figured that the Reddit employees behind that account will get some extra work dealing with force re-opening each closed subreddit & deciding future moderation themselves.

But yeah the Reddit employees behind that account must get all sorts of vitriol thrown their way LOL. I know the feeling, once had a telephone survey job (calling people to try to do surveys) you can imagine people’s reactions receiving cold calls for that stuff, the nicest ones were the people that simply hung up on me.
