Lived in a home for just under 4 years. Moved out of state. Several months later I get a vicious call demanding 2700 dollars usd for damaged carpet and a “smell”. I was young and dumb at the time and didn’t think I had any recourse. Being thousands of miles away and the threat of legal crap at a young age is daughting. Fuck landlords. We are very clean people.

I appreciate the balanced perspective you brought to the table. Modern life is fantastic in so many ways. This post hits so close though because despite the reality most of us yearn for something more. Not wealth per say; freedom to work to live vs most seemingly living to work. The vast imbalance is horrible and most of us aren’t having the best time. Says a comfortable software engineer who is is doing… OK but seriously as a society we should have figured out some semblance of proper balance by now.

As a diabetic I grapple with this often. Turns out can and should are very different things :( curse you pancreas. You too mom. Kids don’t do drugs with a baby in the womb. Your kids will suffer.
