Excellently said! Can I nominate you to represent me in the fediverse?
Ok I had read that too. A different interpretation of your take on that is that he builds products (the app that accesses content) not the whole platform itself (Reddit or Lemmy). So it’s still possible he could build an app for Lemmy. He just wouldn’t try to build the whole ecosystem like Lemmy is.
I’m testing Memmy and it’s rapidly being amazing, super impressed
I didn’t know that, he say why?
Ha yeah, I’ll just buy more batteries so I can always be able to pop in a spare, sigh.
Oh man there are tons of gardening communities on Lemmy, I saw them!
For example, lemmy.world are pissed at being de-federated because it excludes them from Beehaw communities.
Are they, though? I’ve read a lot about it, and everyone over there seems to more or less understand it, kind of just shrug about it now, and have moved on. Lemmy world sees it’s bigger than beehaw now, has tons of its own content, still has access everywhere else and will be fine.
You sound like a great and super reasonable person. Reddit was lucky to have your help and it’s a shame they don’t appreciate you and mods like you more.
same, +1 for Porkbun, been good for me for a long while. Have also used Name.com for a long while and it’s decent. I think I like Porkbun more now, though.
Wow that’s interesting. For me as a consumer that would negate the value of the registrar - I would probably be wrong, but as a consumer maybe would have assumed that domains bought there have some easier integration into the Google ecosystem, with some convenience benefit even if small.
Will they still? I don’t use Squarespace (but a lot of people must be, for them to have that much pull, damn) but would they still have such benefit? I guess the benefit is Squarespace integration.
This includes Google’s special TLDs they own and administer? Article didn’t say.
It would hurt Spez’s job - that guy is on pace to get shitcanned.
Freaking agreed. If they would have started off with reasonableness and respect for the users I would have paid. Note I’d rather pay 10x more to run a Lemmy instance, ha.
Depriving the libs of a favored platform via making it conservative and unruly, and weakening its democratic potential against authoritarian states like Saudi Arabia, is the theory.
Kagi is great for me for 3 reasons:
+1 for Kagi.com, been using it for a long while, it rocks and is definitely worth paying for.
Nice new instance! I’ll come check it out and subscribe to a community. I just made a new one yesterday too, Lemmy.pro
I saw an ad for Oura that made me chuckle the other day. It said “Oura - the original and most trusted ring” or something like that, and I thought “oh there are other ones to choose from, that are likely just as good and cheaper? Thanks for letting me know!”
