71·1 month agoA lot of LLMs now use intentionally synthesized, or AI generated training data. It doesn’t seem to affect them too adversely.
NodeBB is a modern forum that i believe is activitypub enabled unless i’m thinking of something else
18·4 months agoFOSS = Free and Open Source Software. Open source means the source code of a program is available for anyone to view, and free (as in freedom) means the community can contribute to it (this is an oversimplification). FOSS software, like Lemmy, is not owned by a company and as such the software is (usually) developed for the benefit of everything rather than for maximum profit.

Generally a result of decentralization is that subjectively bad instances can arise, but the entire point of decentralization is that they can exist. I don’t consider it a weak point.

For mostly all of my app-launching things I always prefer searching for text than searching for an icon. In pixel launcher, I always use the app drawer search, but an even better solution is in something like Niagara launcher.
