Or I prefer stability. Believe it or not, I found macOS to be very crash prone. Opening many tabs in a web browser? Crashed macOS. Transmission not uploading, so hit use random port to upload, Airport no longer works, even after reset. Run and tab between multiple apps at the same time, crash crash crash. macOS might be good for you, but it really isn’t that great for everyone and really has issues.

Also, my time is worth more than minimum wage. When something isn’t working, I need to get it fixed and now. Not make an appointment with the nearest Apple store so I can wait until the appointment and then waste my time going to the store (and the nearest Apple store is 2 hours away). My machine is a work device, not a reason to have to come in to their store for yet another sales pitch of why I should buy a new laptop instead of fixing it.

Oh, and for those prices, you’d think they would support the hardware for more than 5-7 years. People are complaining about Win10 “only” being supported for 10 years, that’s nothing on Apple.

Or I’m a developer and shouldn’t have to deal with Apple’s BS. Or their constant breaking of software so they can “release a new version of macOS”.

And that trackpad… Holy F, I’ve never come so close to punching a computer than that trackpad. When I two finger tap to bring up a menu, I expect it to bring up a menu where I tap, not drop a cm down and then bring up a menu that doesn’t match what I needed.

Logic Pro isn’t the industry standard, it’s Pro Tools, and Final Cut Pro isn’t either, it’s Adobe Premiere Pro.

You are right, those are not compatible, didn’t realize that. The speed specs are the same, just a series block. With the worst part of this being that these are all going to be 10 years old when Win10 is completely unsupported, which is better then the non-Linix alternatives (MacOS, ChromeOS(?), Android, iPadOS).

The difference is you now need a TPM 2.0 chip. That’s pretty much it. Hardware requirements were the same as Win8.

If you are using a desktop computer, all you need to do is buy a $20-30 TPM 2.0 module and install it. It connects to a few pins and your done. It’s cheap, simple, and easy to do.

The issue is most people now have laptops and quite a few didn’t have that chip or that version (some have TPM 1.2, which isn’t as secure anymore.) and you can’t install it on a laptop motherboard. TPM 2.0 has been available since mid-2016, but some manufacturers might have cheapened out and not added it to save costs as it wasn’t a necessary part. So basically, any laptop that is 9 years or older (or the manufacturer cheapened out) won’t be able to upgrade to Win11.

This was a choice by Steve Jobs for how it is now. This was also the time they were trying to push HTML5 as the future as removing dependency on specialty software. If mostly everything was only needing a website, then it didn’t matter what OS you were using. This would help allow iOS and OSX (at the time) be fully compatible against Blackberry and Windows Vista. But then Android got popular and Windows 7 was a major improvement, Linux was growing as well (netbooks, before MS tried to push into that market). Suddenly their push of any device would be on equal footing was not in their favor, so Apple pushed HARD on “There’s an app for that” to start the hard lock in of iOS leading to where things are today.
