Gotta second this. Especially if the growth is sudden. It’s very difficult to integrate newer users into the existing culture.
There are merits to being a smaller community.

We have that on FFXIV too. If you play on PC and use mods.
All my siblings are way older than me(only lived with one for 4 years), and every one of them besides my sister has greeted me as little shit at some point.
I’m sorry we failed you Bernie.
Look, I am a big believer in attempting to educate other people and better the world around you by trying to change harmful or hateful outlooks, but I also realize that some people cannot be changed. Trying to engage these types of people in real life is just putting yourself in danger. Engaging them online is fine but there’s a limit to how long you should spend having dialogue with someone who could probably argue their irrational viewpoints for weeks on end without stopping.
I wish I could say this instead of having to schedule my vacation time a month in advance.
Damn, I used to watch GB growing up and he was one of my favorites. Loved how even when he was getting his ass kicked on the field you could still see the guy smiling as he lined up for another play.
Fuck man why did you have to do this?
It’s much easier for people to mock and ridicule than to educate and correct.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t call out poor behavior but the way we do so should be constructive as to not breed further resentment. This goes for most everything too, not just for the issue in the OP.
This is just a small part of creating a world that you want to live in. We can’t shut out the world or those we disapprove of, but we can contribute to the betterment of others, making the world a place we’re more more comfortable with sharing.
Probably doesn’t need to be said but memes aside I appreciate you being nice to them. I always feel incredibly bad for the people working in that industry.
YouTube: Has ads and sells your data like every other online service
Also YouTube: Doesn’t pay creators much to the point where creators often have in-video advertisements but expects audiences on the platform to pay for an adless experience
The problem isn’t necessarily multiplayer games as much as many multiplayer games refuse to release with functions to help you group/party find and actually meet people in-game. They don’t have to because discord exists.
So you go to play a new game and turns out you’re just playing with the same people you always play games with because despite being multiplayer there’s no reason to interact with strangers in-game.
Literally. If bro isn’t careful those transformers might cook them
There are lawyers that operate through contingency fees but you would have to be very foolish to immediately do so as a solo practitioner. Usually a firm will handle the risk but the firm also isn’t letting inexperienced attorneys handle those cases due to the risky nature of them.
The legal jobs that are at the bottom of the paygrade are usually government. Prosecution, public defense, administrative. A lot of those jobs have loan forgiveness plans and the usual government job benefits but the pay is a bit down there even compared to what you would get as a first year associate in some firms.
Probably a free dating app too. Just another reminder, you are the product.
We should be more grateful for these people. Our adblockers function because they don’t bother using them.
The moment that most of society starts using adblockers is the moment they become defunct when the big corporations begin actively fighting them. I’ve already witnessed this with YouTube Vanced/Revanced.
It’s not entirely true though. It is a lot of work. It doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be done, but often times unless you can incentivize it then they won’t.
Even then, many companies find ways around it, such as dealing with carbon credits, which basically allow them to continue harming the environment for a cost, because apparently it’s still cheaper that way.
Majority of the wealthy higher ups in corporate management don’t care about reducing emissions. They care about making their companies look good.
Talking about working towards climate change goals or talking about supporting marginalized groups is easy. Actually doing something is a lot different, but even today very few people look for actions.
It doesn’t really generate activity. Basically any platform would prefer to have more comments to generate activity, which in some cases moves content across various algorithms, but also makes the platform look well active and involved. Having an active looking platform can make others want to sign up and join. I’m sure there’s potentially other reasons.
That said, I think it’s fine to lurk and should be promoted more. Sometimes it’s better to spend time focusing on articulating your thoughts and writing your posts than it is just writing more posts overall, and sometimes there isn’t much to add to a topic.
