Oh gods, I had forgotten what a pain in the ass that setup was and how it would just randomly stop working when they changed something on their side.

I work with Teams as an admin.

1. Teams is a resource hog.
2. Under the hood it appears to be a mess.
3. The user workflow aggressively tries to prevent users from multitasking, despite many jobs requiring this.
4. Product design is a shining example of the greater Microsoft philosophy of forcing customers to adapt their business to Microsoft’s technology instead of having technology flexible enough to adapt to a customer’s business needs.
5. From an admin standpoint it has numerous questionable design decisions surrounding UC. For example, you can register non-Teams SIP phones to it, but you can’t see the IP addresses of these registered devices(?!). In general, from a telephony standpoint, Teams is good at providing dial tone and some very basic telephony features, enough to make senior leadership think that it does everything, but if you need UC functionality for more than users who sit at a desk all day it falls apart quickly.
6. My conversations with representatives from the product team at Microsoft suggests they are out of touch with how businesses use telephones.

I still know my way around autoexec.bat and config.sys

This isn’t so bad. I normally am more than happy to let someone else take the lead but if nobody else is going to do something I may as well take charge.

The trick is to fake confidence then everyone thinks you know what you’re doing.

I do enjoy how GenX doesn’t appear at all. Very appropriate.

See, you might have noticed that I never claimed perfect English existed in Germany (or anywhere). You seem to be attempting to win an argument that doesn’t exist.

See, that is what I mean. Nobody speaks “perfect” English, not even native speakers, because languages are not prescriptive. Their function is to communicate ideas and if you have successfully communicated then you have used language “perfectly”.

Only because of their exacting standards. Even when I lived in Germany in the 90s the only time I had trouble understanding someone speaking English was when our realtor was trying to be racist but didn’t know the English words.

Though my last employer was pissed when I got an offer for 30% more when he spent the last 6 months training me.

He immediately counter-offered to match and he didn’t even have to check with anyone. I called him out on underpaying me by 30%. This was probably a mistake, but he was kind of an asshole anyway so meh.

I was actually diagnosed as a kid though.

I found this out the hard and still have no regrets.

At the start of all this when Christian first posted I figured I would just use some sort of workaround like old.reddit in mobile browser; the official app and new reddit are non-starters for me, it’s just not how I browse.

However, in the days since I have been increasingly dismayed by Spez and the rest of the leadership response, a lack of interest in even engaging on the subject and outright hostility towards a community that has been dedicated to reddit for years. I can’t see myself going back there, it’s been poisoned for me.
