This is why people share their models so freely online. It’s not pride in what they’ve accomplished. It’s because they’ve just spent 3 weeks and $60 in plastic to finally “correctly” print something that cost the original manufacturer $0.15 to print and would have worked perfectly if they had just stopped cutting corners when they got to $0.17, but saving that extra $0.02 per item made sure that it was definitely going to fail.
And by sharing it you pass the curse onto others and enable yourself to finally produce a print that is still totally fucked but just good enough that you are willing to call it done and start the cycle over with something else.

For us older folk, and unfortunately, also for some younger folk that grew up in more “conservative” small towns, borrowing and fancy math trickery was the work of the devil.
We were required to memorize the addition tables as well as the multiplication tables. And even then, addition could be done on your fingers and toes so as long as you could add the big numbers like 8 & 7 together faster than the really slow kid could take off his shoes and work it the hard way, you were considered proficient at addition.
So ya, there’s a wide swath of America that just sucks at basic math.

That’s why I started smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol at 12yrs old, to stunt my growth as much as possible. And now that I am an adult and 6’3", i thank God I did it, imagine how huge I would have gotten otherwise. So now I should have plenty of vein to spare.

You are correct, and I think most people on the left feel exactly the same. Which I think is why the people who seem to be shooting at the conservatives have been the same nuts that they have been stirring up to back them. However, I also understand why people feel such schadenfreude for the very people who are the ones out there motivating the nuts in the first place.

That’s really cool. The borrowing thing is the part of common core that they teach in elementary, and it is the part that enrages conservatives. The point of the homework and practice questions is to repeatedly do the borrowing thing until it becomes automatic and something that they do in their heads all of the time. So, it absolutely enrages the right when kids get the correct answer, but lose points for doing the problem the wrong way.
I was taught to do it the hard way and had to figure out the other tricks for myself much later in life, so now, even after decades of doing it your way, it’s more of a struggle than it should be and I just reach for my calculator instead. So I envy you quite a bit.

Keep up the good work with your subversive teaching of common core principles as tips, tricks, cheats and shortcuts. That’s actually how they should have branded it, instead of common core, it should have been cheating core, then they would have been all for it.
