Well sure, but the fediverse is nowhere near that ubiquitous.
I wouldn’t attribute malice for… not using the same protocol others are? And the unnecessary work is posting on Bluesky too instead of just the fediverse?
Twitter was never part of the fediverse, so moving to Bluesky, even though it’s not on the same protocol, is still a step in the right direction. They’re not taking anything away from the fediverse… Well, they might be taking some users away because they’ve hit the critical mass of userbase to let people see what they want to see instead of the one-size-fits-all Linux Star Trek Leftism blend we’ve got over here, but people who are tired of that would be leaving Lemmy eventually anyways.
Not sure if your information is outdated or if you’re using a different definition of federate, but this blog post says they have support for a degree of federation: https://bsky.social/about/blog/02-22-2024-open-social-web
Linux machines don’t crash unexpectedly, because if they do, it’s your fault for configuring it wrong and you should have expected it.
I’ve been blocking political communities, so I don’t get so much of this. I would recommend you also block communities that annoy you. We’re in the same boat of browsing by top X hours.
Solarpunk doesn’t really bug me though because it’s (supposed to be) more about the good that could be rather than complaining about what is. (Don’t get me wrong, complaints can be valid, but that’s not what I come to Lemmy for.)
Thanks! I was able to find a video of it.

That sounds fun. Do you remember when that was?
This is Luigi slander.
Wanted to make it a bit more obscure for my friends, and also cropped it.
Well to be fair, that wasn’t until 6 hours after my comment and 9 hours after yours, so neither of us could have known for sure.
It’s not fair to assume a member of a population is guilty until they condemn/renounce the problematic members of their population. I remember there being a problem after 9/11 where some people expected individual Muslims to publicly condemn Al Qaeda or else be assumed complicit. If it wasn’t alright there, it’s not alright here.

Complimenting a username is nice, but you don’t have to throw in a disclaimer about political alignment. I don’t think any of your hexbear friends, if they’re reasonable, would call you a lib because you complimented the username of a guy whose instance is populated by libs.
Don’t be so freaked out. It’s only 2 AM in my timezone.
At least it doesn’t look like it shrunk too.
I have no problem with the acceptable ads system. ABP doesn’t get any money from it, and the ads have to meet the criteria anyways, and it’s easy to opt out. I guess it’s a bit fishy that the list maintainers charge money to get ads reviewed, but the FAQ ThunderWhiskers posted says that smaller companies get it for free, and they only charge the bigger companies. I’m not gonna get up in arms over someone charging Disney money for a service they give the local deli for free.
I also like the way it gives companies an incentive to produce less intrusive ads. With the system, unintrusive ads reach more people. Otherwise, it’s all or nothing, which makes intrusive ads the best option from a greedy perspective; they’re far more likely to be clicked, and the only cost is the risk of damaging the ad ecosystem as a whole (and you know how little corporations can care about damaging ecosystems.)
I dunno, it kinda felt like she was playing along… within the constraints of still doing her job. Printing out a whole paper to say “No.” when a sticky note would suffice, for example.
Disney says Piccolo agreed to similar language again when purchasing park tickets online in September 2023. Whether he actually read the fine print at any point, it adds, is “immaterial.”
Whuh? Why didn’t they make their case around that instead of Disney+?
Indeed. Though that’s not to say asking is useless. He knows what we need, but often entrusts us to ask for it, so that we can see the answered prayers instead of taking Him for granted (plus some other reasons probably.)
Hehe, you could say that reply was done with much… celerity.
