  • In the Netherlands your pension fund is withheld from your wages (partially a mandatory government fund, partially a fund your employer might select).

My previous employer invested about 1% of my wages into the fund, which was quite shite. My current employer invests 10% and has a significantly better return.

Health insurance is a monthly cost you pay on your own (starting at around € 120 / mo). It’s a € ~350 yearly deductible and coverage is mostly decided by the government. Any additional coverage is your own choosing and comes at a premium.

As you can only switch contracts on a yearly basis, comparing health plans is effectively a Christmas tradition for all Dutch citizens.

Someone who killed a human being in cold blood.

Someone who killed someone who kills people by pretending to be a health insurance, whilst not paying them when people try to use said insurance in cold blood.

The sentence is a little longer if you give the full context. Nobody was innocent here.

  • We have a fee-free bank-to-bank transfer system that is based on pre-digital technology that takes 2-3 business days. We often call it “direct deposit” or automated clearing house (ACH).

Ah, right, kinda like SEPA Credit Transfer. You do need a persons IBAN which is a bit long, but their name is validated so you usually send it to the right person.

Now, we could probably make this payment system instantaneous relatively effortlessly

Ooh, cool, kinda like SEPA Instant Credit Transfer, which transfers money within ten seconds to bank accounts using the above mentioned number.

This is all fine and dandy for most people because they simply can’t imagine doing things a more consumer-friendly way

And that’s why, in the Netherlands, Tikkie took the country by storm. It is an app that allows you to use iDEAL (a web-based payment system, soon rolled out in Germany and Belgium as Vero) to send money to friends. Usually takes one pin and three taps to send it, and have it instantly appear on the account of the recipient.

Not just the output. One could construct that training your model on GPL content which would have it create GPL content means that the model itself is now also GPL.

It’s why my company calls GPL parasitic, use it once and it’s everywhere.

This is something I consider to be one of the main benefits of this license.

150m can do a whole bunch when you use properly rolled out busses, with their own lanes (and you can initially paint these if the budget is low). People driving their car on the bus lanes will nicely generate additional tax income (fines) and if the busses are good, the people will come.

Even in the Netherlands, where we have really good trains on even a European scale, we still have long-distance busses (comfy ones, for 1-2hr trips) and regional busses (still comfy, but those are 20-30 min trips). Custom infra doesn’t always cut it, especially when repurposing existing infra will serve the job just fine.
