Declared a monopoly only in the search engine space AFAIK. Browsers don’t have anything to do with that other than maybe setting Google as the default search engine.

I use Firefox everywhere except work where my only options are Chrome or Edge (both chromium). Apparently uBlock lite is supposed to work on the new version of Chrome and hopefully still functions roughly the same. Apart from block web ads, I rely on it to block YouTube ads.

We have Logitech wired mice at work and they’ve turned into straight garbage in recent years. I’ve literally opened one brand new and had the cable begin fraying where it feeds into the mouse within a week. Previously, our Logitech mice would last for years without issue with 24/7 use.

I’m sure they charge a fee to pay your rent with a card too.

Are you getting a discount when you buy a carrier phone on contract? Every time I’ve priced them out, the total for 24 months of payments is typically around the full MSRP of the phone. Buying direct usually results in hefty discounts since companies like Samsung always have some sort of deal going on. My parents recently got some bottom of the barrel smartphones and still wound up paying hundreds of dollars for them on contract even though you can buy them outright online for 1/3 of the price.

I didn’t say anything about abandoning it, just that it’s bound to happen eventually like with any other business unlike people and murder.

I get your point, but this metaphor would be more applicable if historically every human on earth murdered someone during their lifetime. I think Steam/Valve will remain the same as long as their current leadership is in place. 999 times out of 1000, once the original founders are gone, any company begins the enshittification process, whether it’s a major business like Valve or a local chain of grocery stores.

How are either of those a monopoly? A monopoly generally means you only have one option and that option is taking advantage of their outrageous market share by jacking up prices.

Where I live the only broadband internet is Comcast which is why I pay 2-3x more for my service than comparable services in areas where they don’t have a monopoly (or areas with sane regulations).

Saying that you’ll not earn as much money if you don’t put your game on steam doesn’t mean steam has a monopoly, it just means you’re not getting as much reach as you could. Being popular doesn’t equate to being a monopoly.

This is nothing new though. For decades, managers have fallen for “solution in a box” sales pitches even though front line workers know it’s doomed to fail as soon as they set eyes on it. This time the solution just happens to be “AI.”

Them telling drivers to meticulously clean the vehicles doesn’t necessarily mean they’re afraid its going to rust. They’re probably concerned with staining and junk getting embedded into the panels. In the forum post, you can actually see a little bit of staining circling some of the debris on the panels. Furthermore, iron particles can get on the panel and rust themselves even though the actual panel itself isn’t rusting. This is why they make iron decontamination spray for auto detailing.

We don’t even know if they’re rusting. All these articles are based off a couple pictures posted in a forum from a guy who doesn’t even know what the actual issue is. These articles are just filling in the blanks with speculation.
