    You’re confusing AI Training with AI implementation.

    AI Training is the big cost.

    AI implementation is where the money is made, and lots is being made.

    Are you fucking kidding me? Are you that obtuse to the millions of subscriptions people are dishing out?

    Are you not aware of the AI vision systems being used in the past 5 years making fucking $$$$$$$$ ?

    All of us gamers out there… all that $$$ into hardware to have DLSS is just ‘no real value’ ??

    Why are you commenting on a topic you clearly have no idea how or where its being used?

    No. It’s innovation. As was horse carriages and other technologies/jobs being out of date

    the industry steals directly from artists

    Valid Argument!! Training AI based on existing voice actor recordings is true valid concern. But this won’t stop the industry with eventually having really good vocaloids, or finding people willing to donate their voice or sell it on the cheap.

    Bullshit. There’s no reason any AI training needs to happen at 100% duty cycle. It can run straight off pure solar with no batteries. Trains only when the sun shines. That said, the power source is irrelevant to the argument. Not all nations rely on fossil fuels.

    Whining that society is moving forward and a old job is being obsoleted makes you look like a rube. Want to take your voice acting to the next level? Do something like the Critical Role folks did and adapt.

    I can see upvotes and downvotes.

    I can see the list of users that upvoted every post/message.

    I used to be able to see a list of users that downvoted. (data is there, just hidden)

    So everything you ever upvote/downvote is tracked and everyone can see it at some point.

    Your comment history is public, as is your upvote history.

    It’s not all hype.

    nVidia has some SERIOUS R&D in the use of AI for the past 10 years.

    But using AI in the graphic space… upscaling, downscaling, faking lighting, faking physics… This is all very useful in making videogames.

    Then there was a leap in the way AI Image generation was done with the above hardware. And that opened up a whole new growing field.

    It’s just some people took basic language models that have been around for 30 years and scaled them up with their hardware. And it was neat, and surprising some of the stuff a LLM would output. But not reliable.

    And then suddenly a lot of layman’s got their hand on the LLM’s and thought it was the 2nd coming of Jesus, and started throwing big money at it… it will be surprise to no one who knows how these AI’s work that that big money isn’t going anywhere.

    But those first two, is no hype. It’s a real viable use case for the AI, and money will be made there.

    Well, that’s academic…

    Again, when you are in the real world… how is irrelevant.

    It doesn’t matter if you did your homework or did the same thing over and over again.

    Sure, some people acquire the capability through repetition. But all that matters in the end is if you are capable or not.

    So viewing homeworks as just about the artifact you submit is missing the point and short-sighted.

    No, the point is to get an irrelevant piece of paper that in the end doesn’t actually indicate a persons capabilities.
