hard agree. I never have learned anything from a video in terms of software development… now working on my car on the other hand… many times over
Just your normal everyday casual software dev. Nothing to see here.

I want to add, as someone who was in charge of reprovisioning high school laptops during training. Please only sticker bomb computers you actually own if it’s a system that you’ve been lent from a school district or employer please leave the stickers elsewhere. It looks cute and cuddly, but I assure you the next person in line is not going to be impressed with the permanent sticker marks from where the stickers had been on which had unequal fading
femboys are you going to be able to do something like that but like surprised someone else is going to be able to do something like that but like surprised someone else is going to be able to do something.
Yea it just loops.
it’s weird that I learned of this through this community and not a security or health community. something to look into tomorrow
from a personal point of view, not losing your job is a pretty big benefit. But if you are looking strictly from an ecological viewpoint, just because they couldn’t make a change on /this/ order doesn’t mean they cant do anything with future orders. It’s not a black or white issue. This order may have left very little wiggle room, but the next orders might just say an end goal, and may be able to manipulated in a way to downscale the effectiveness of the order while still obtaining the same result. If they are no longer in that position, that potential is no longer present.
This is like saying “That soldier followed orders and killed a non-combatant, so might as well replace him with a person who loves killing non-combatants.”
Being fired basically. Or being relieved of position
I agree, if they had access to the data it they should continue to discretely leak it to the public even If they don’t protest the action publicly (due to anonymity concerns)
I may be optimistic, it didn’t seem to be that way prior to the US election cycle, then again though, there were less people at that time.
I think that politics being overbearing is hopefully just a trait of the election in the US, now that it’s over hopefully the US politics fanatics can move on to bigger and better things. Fingers Crossed.
As someone who left reddit over 2 years ago never go go back, a lot of the posts that people classified as “reddit reports” I have never seen before 😂
I’m conflicted on this (as in the topic). I have no argument that the information should have remained public. but like, what is the alternative that the employees had? The only outcome not obeying that direction would be is termination. Being terminated for not following direction would help nobody, the information would still not be available to the public, and the workers would be out of a job. Plus workers terminated would be replaced with workers who were not passionate about climate change, so if a more minor of a problem came up, they couldn’t skew it in a less destructive matter. The workers were dealt a shitty hand and did what they could with it.
Being said, love the idea! I wish we could have more of a say in stuff like this. 😀
Weird they censored the picture, the last time I saw this cycle through the picture wasn’t censored
I didn’t expect that to turn into a dad meme with the “just disappointed”
Your comment showed up in my feed today how dare you even consider posting an opinion that’s different than mine AND clutter my feed! /hardJ
Since it’s a new community, there’s an increased effort of people spamming sending posts more than usual to try to have it gain more traction, I do expect that eventually it will calm down again once all this drama blows over.
I also think that now there’s essentially going to be two different 196s, or maybe three that are actively used because there’s going to be the people who didn’t bother leaving, the people who left, and now of course they’ve opened up another “official” channel on LW which is seeing activity.
might also be coming across this post in one of the various communities because this community’s link is being spammed through the roof right now. If you’re annoyed by it just add the link to your apps comment filter.
Also yes the name is too long, I’ve gotten accustomed to the fact I’m never linking it via mobile 😅
I think they listed the ages because taking your comment at face value, it makes it seem like those communities were made recently, where it’s not that, it’s just they never took off
Thank you for this it helped clarify it for me I had saw the parent post and thought it was similar to bloha in terms of pronunciation, where are the o says it’s name instead since it was capitalized
the inability to be able to rent it at a profit usually. If they don’t think they can get money out of it, they won’t want to. If the economy hits a point where the housing market collapses, chances are they aren’t going to want to risk the buy in knowing that they likely won’t be able to sell for equal amount.
Or the much faster method: the “scary” government regulating it
