Think of it like web browsers.
You can visit websites using Firefox, or you can visit websites using Chrome. Websites all speak the same language, so both Firefox & Chrome can load them.
In the case of Lemmy & PieFed, they also speak the same language, in this case that language (or protocol) is called ActivityPub.
So if you use a Lemmy app, it can talk to the different Lemmy servers, but it can also talk to different PieFed servers. Similarly if you use a PieFed app, it can talk to the different PieFed servers, but it can also talk to Lemmy servers.
Now Lemmy & PieFed are not the exact same. In the same way British English and American English are not the exact same. So your Lemmy app might not let you login to a PieFed instance directly. But they are similar, so maybe one day.
Since you are a lemm.ee user, your instance is going away, so you’ll need to pick a new instance. You can pick a Lemmy instance or a PieFed instance, but the one you pick may limit the apps your able to use. Both also have websites/web apps, so if you’re happy with the web version, you can use that too.
I’ll also add that PieFed has some features that Lemmy doesn’t have. So if you pick PieFed you may get some new features. The downside may be that you can’t use your favorite app anymore.
I suggest trying both, but it you’re not sure or ready, you can just pick another Lemmy server. You can always try PieFed at a later date.
Zootopia? Based on what I’ve seen online, who’s getting milked? Anything that moves.
The truck is to have three accounts. One to post. One ask, “Where do I get this!?!?!?”, and a third to post the link.
whimsical nature
Which is why my favorite Daniel Craig Bond moment is the Casino Royale naked torture scene. Bond telling the torturer to hit him again, then laughing because he’s “scratching my balls” is peak whimsy (within the new Bond universe).
I want my Bond to be a bit silly, and that was sadly the only time they did it.

When the world/news goes crazy, it’s probably not actually that bad. Surprise mothetfucker!
Whenever I hear a new term I have to figure out if it’s really that bad, or just made up nonsense.
I’ll do something similar.
What headphones do you use on your Switch? Or on an airplane? Or a regional bus?
How is the experience switching from your phone, to your laptop, to your tablet, to your Steam Deck?

Assuming US, it actually depends on the state (may be all states, but I can only speak of those I’ve lived in). The law is that the money must go into a separate interest bearing account and that is the money that is to be returned. So the money isn’t supposed be their own pocket.
It is wholesome. A family in the film even stops to watch the miracle of life.

In 2024, three NFL games were played in London, one in Germany. In 2025 scheduled games include the same plus a game in Madrid and Dublin.

So it is “a thing”, but not caring about it is understandable.
Sure, but even if TikTok sold it wouldn’t solve the problem. Hell them not selling also doesn’t solve the problem.
The problem is that data is gobbled up and sold. Data/privacy protection laws to stop that would be useful.
So technically you’re right, but the law they passed left a HUGE loophole. And by loophole I mean just don’t be based on those counties and you can gobble up whatever data you like.
Meat Grapes? Why doesn’t it sound like that when I say it.

Lemmy instances regularly go down for maintenance longer than this.
Twitter used to regularly “fail whale” and in the long run no one cares.
Yes, decentralizing is a good thing. Yes, it’s fun to poke at BlueSky. But in the long run if you have a product that people want to use then they’ll put up with a lot of crap/downtime.
MimicJar@lemmy.worldto Fediverse memes@feddit.uk•Bluesky users five years from nowEnglish11·8 months agoAs long as you give people choice you don’t have to worry about change.
Look at Reddit. If they hadn’t killed the API myself and many others would still be there. I used Reddit is Fun for 10+ years. Reddit made hundreds of changes, many of them stupid, but I didn’t care because no matter how many changes they made I could choose to ignore them and use the exact same client/UI I had been using.
Also Lemmy and Mastodon have plenty of good UIs in the form of apps. If you want to change the default UI I say go for it, just provide the old one. If you don’t want to maintain the old one, don’t. Just give folks to the option to maintain it.
Damn. I assumed you could just pay to win. I’m pretty sure white goes first.
Just pick a religion that has respawns, duh.

That’s the thing, I don’t think the mechanism exists (or works) yet. I’m confident it will someday, but I didn’t think it worked yet.
David F. Sandberg aka “ponysmasher” comes to mind. He started doing largely horror films himself on no/low budgets. One of his own films got opportunity to become a feature film. That then gave him future opportunities, the largest of which was Shazam! (2019).
Additionally when YouTube Premium (YouTube Red at the time) first launched they also launched YouTube Originals. Many of those programs were created by YouTubers.
The “Originals” eventually stopped being made, but it’s not clear if the issue was the content, the service or a bit of both.
