Supposedly they do but I’ve had surprisingly good luck with used GPUs from ebay. I’m good with warning others against buying used GPUs on ebay though because then costs will stay lower for me.

If you are having problems with all of the Linux posts then it’s up to you to fix the problem. I’d suggest you buy an old Lenovo laptop and install Arch Linux and compile everything from source. That should solve this and a multitude of other problems in your life right now. 🙂

When you call someone it was normal for someone else to answer and you had to be careful because they could be listening to your call.
As long as I stay mad at “those damn libs” then companies can raise prices with impunity. If nobody boycotts these innocent companies then stock prices will be able to surge.
Honestly though, I wish people understood that by blaming only inflation they’re effectively giving companies a blank check to keep raising prices. Sigh.

20·1 year agoAll companies care about is profit margin. This is why automotive companies are so focused on trucks and SUVs. These vehicles cost a bit more to produce but can be sold at multiple times the additional investment. When electric vehicles took off they were a status symbol and sold primarily to luxury car buyers. US manufacturers beholden to share holder value will never focus on affordable transportation. This is why China will eventually eclipse the US in electric vehicles.
I would also add that you shouldn’t be using a basic calculator to solve multi part problems. Second, I haven’t seen a division sign used in a formal math class since elementary and possibly junior high. These things are almost always written as fractions which makes the logic easier to follow. The entire point of working in convention is so that results are reproducible. The real problem though is that these are not written to educate anyone. They are deliberately written to confuse so that some social media personality can make money from clicks. If someone really wants to practice math skip the click and head over to the Kahn Academy or something similar.
I see they’ve weaponized saturated fat and brought “have it your way” to the battlefield. What kind of monsters could deploy this weapon of mass consumption and watch the long agonizing deaths that followed?
The very saddest thing is that people don’t know Firefox is a non profit trying to protect their privacy and instead choose Chrome. It’s almost like they want to be owned and subjugated by big business.
I saw an earlier post that showed Lemmy’s recent rapid growth followed by a plateau and then slight decline. My feeling is that there is a very LOUD minority of Lemmy users that are trying to act as self-anointed gatekeepers and they’re bringing the platform down as a direct consequence. It makes the platform look petty and small to new and existing users alike. If the top posts are continually about shaming other users then this platform isn’t going to last. Let’s focus on building communities and having interesting conversations rather than one upping each other.
I’ve never understood why it’s so hard to re-purpose an old android phone as a TV streaming box. I have an old One Plus that would blow the Nvidia Shield out of the water but as far as I can tell nothing exists that make that possible. It has HDMI via the USB C port but no way to add a remote and use the TV interface. The ability to sleep when the TVs CEC signal sends a power off command would also be a requirement for me.
