it’s faster. the fakes can get out there at virtually the same time as the “real” images. any story that may have built is already in dispute before it became a thing. and whimpers away. before if it took a day to get a convincing fake out people would be suspicious

its not that they aren’t interesting, I guess the tone shift was harder for me to get over. that and the story going on after the death of one of the key characters who I won’t name was hard too

I really need to retry the last book. I was so into the series but the time jump really took me out of it and I just lost interest at some point in the last book. seems dumb not to finish it but it really lost a lot of what I liked about the earlier books. hard to explain

the most unbelievable part is cubicles, no real corporations will provide that much privacy and instead force you to work open plan on a row of desks next to a random other person from another team who was also forced in for no reason

the only expenses businesses ever complain about are wages. they don’t seem to care how much is wasted elsewhere if they could save a few dollars cutting some shift workers allowance

FC6 was the first ubi game I really disliked. same as you a few hours in and I just couldn’t get into the vibe of it. I really liked FC5 (possibly in my top 10 of all time) but 6 felt like such a miss

what they are saying is that in the past, technological leaps meant increases in productivity and generally freed the displaced workers into new careers, but this time the sheer scale of change that is imminent doesn’t leave time for that. it’s going to be bad

well, for a couple billion years anyway until the expanding sum destroys it

sort of, but we (at least the older millenials) experienced some of the good times before everything went to shit. the younger gens cannot have the experiences we had as children and in some cases young adults. we mourn what we lost, but probably look like “old man yells at clouds” to those who don’t know what they never had
