But I’ve heard people talking like they’re going to need to take out a mortgage on their house and they aren’t being sarcastic just to get eggs it just feels a bit strange how strong the reaction to the egg prices is. Meanwhile over the years we’ve let things like medicine and housing which feel like they are more important to then eggs Skyrocket in price and while we do complain about them it feels casual compared to how people are talking about eggs

Ok so, i understand that it’s way more than it used to be but… Is $10 for a dosen really THAT bad? Are People using eggs literally every meal or something? I LITERALLY heard someone complaining about this while grabbing some at costco. Like genuinely upset and acting like they can never have eggs again while they have a cart easily pushing $400 of stuff not all of which is food.

I mean sure or you could just start by using a format that’s not so painfully strict with how it’s laid out. I miss the good old INI config. It couldn’t give two shits how you format it, throw in random spaces random tabs random new lines so long as the value was correct

Anyone that says yaml is readable is psychotic. It’s literally objectively not readable because a random white space character can break the entire thing and that’s by definition not readable I can’t see whether there’s a white space or not without explicitly setting that up in an editor

It’s not that difficult? I’m over here in rural Washington along long beach, raymond, Aberdeen and Pacific Transit is quite viable for getting to work grocery stores and whatever else you need. I know because I’m a driver for them, I’m currently doing from Ilwaco to Aberdeen.

From my first stop to my second stop is a half hour, then an hour to the next stop, then a couple quick stops in town, then another half hour to Aberdeen. And yet I still service about 30 people a day, people rely on me to get to work, to do shopping, to go see the doctor. We also have a service where people can call upon us for very specific needs that aren’t covered by our routes. Three of them actually

We have a Dial-A-Ride service where you can request that we pick you up and drop you off at specific places or the nearest other bus stop in smaller shuttle buses (prioritizes ada passengers if demand is high)

We have a shopper shuttle service that literally just runs between a big pile of different stores and restaurants that people like to go to and they make connections with most of our other routes

And then we have the veteran connect service where we help make sure that veterans are able to get to their medical appointments as far out as Chehalis and Vancouver as there is unfortunately no VA hospitals near us.

Almost every furniture store in existence can deliver straight to your house now, even if you manage to find one that can’t just go rent a U-Haul for the day it’s not expensive. There’s no reason for your daily driver to be a massive truck because you might need something big at some point doesn’t matter whether your rural or not.

I definitely know what it’s like to put some mileage on a car as I currently Drive a total round trip mileage of 160 miles per day for getting to/from work. But thankfully for my wallet I’m driving a smart fortwo which gets on average 43 miles to the gallon so that definitely helps. And the only reason I need to do that is because I’m the one driving the bus so I can’t exactly take the bus to drive the bus unfortunately as much as I wish they would let me just take it home

Isn’t there literally a law that prevents gas stations from being too competitive. Like you can’t lower your prices below a certain threshold lower than a station near you or some shit like that or am I just on crazy pills

I find myself temporarily kind of sort of not really homeless. I bought five acres of land, with an agreement on file that the county would open the barrier upon purchase. Here I am 5 months later still struggling to even get them to answer my calls much less open my barrier. So while I have land, and an RV, I have nowhere to put it.

The majority of RV parks have no availability for long-term stay, even if they did they cost pretty much the same if not more than renting an apartment which is stupid. And most places are insanely hostile towards RVs staying anywhere else. I’ve been lucky in that I happen to be near a rest stop that is both usually not busy and absolutely huge. I’ve been sneaking under the radar staying here longer than I should occasionally hanging out at a wallmart or something during business hours to avoid being noticed.

But this is getting harder and harder as most public Waste stations have closed, and the ones that are open still have gotten rid of their potable water so I might be able to dump my Wastewater but I have nowhere to then refill water.

I built this RV to be great for 24/7 living, I have over 4 kilowatts of solar on the roof, I have over 15 KW hours of battery storage so I don’t even need an electrical hookup. I have a full size heat pump hot water heater, two chest freezers one of which is to use as a fridge, and I have about 100 gallons freshwater capacity. On top of that I have enough filtration on my water system to make it so that I could probably just safely use stream water if I really wanted. I’ve got multiple levels of whole home size filtration right at the tank, and then for all my drinking and cooking water it goes through an additional 10 stage filter system that has reverse osmosis and alkaline remineralization. It’s in good condition, clean, and it’s hard to miss the solar lining the whole thing. It’s obviously not a dilapidated homeless RV but people treat me like I’m some kind of homeless crack addict just because I’m in an RV.

Soybeans are a fairly large part of most purely vegetarian diets, as they provide a metric ton of the various nutrients one needs, you can get around that with enough other types of vegetables but SB is the quickest and easiest which means it would likely become one of the most heavily consumed parts of an all vegetarian economy if everyone were to suddenly switch.

Soybeans, kale, and winter squashes are generally the most popular because they are very heavily nutrient and vitamin dense. But they don’t exactly scale to extreme levels cleanly.

Again, to be clear, I am advocating for a switch to primarily vegetarian diets. I’m just saying going exclusively vegetarian isn’t necessarily going to be great and will come with its own set of challenges and problems. A middle ground of primarily vegetarian but still some light meat usage is going to be the healthier Middle Ground both for your diet and the environment
