I think it should always be optional. We don’t have to have our TVs on 25/7. I’m certainly no tinfoil hat wearer but I don’t think the government should have access to our private spaces at all times unless we consent to it.

I’m in the UK and we can disable them here 🤷🏻♀️
Yeah I usually have a little backpack. I’ll have on me: 1ltr bottle of water, keys, purse (wallet), phone, lip balm, tissues, emergency snacks, painkillers, antihistamines, hairbands, lipstick if I’m wearing any, maybe a light rain coat. Pockets or a handbag don’t do it.
Same for me and baconreader 😭
Wow, that’s a serious drop off! I looked at a few of my old fave subreddits and they’re all the same. It’s like one of those old towns in the US that was once on a main highway before a new route was built. Once bustling, now dead.
I had to put the Lemmy app where Baconreader used to be 😢
Put the words “cutting out meat impact” into Google and you will get these links in your first few results, so I’m not sure how you struggled to find them:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/explainers-59232599
https://ourworldindata.org/less-meat-or-sustainable-meat
https://www.ncronline.org/earthbeat/justice/can-one-meatless-day-out-week-make-difference
Which, as they said, are readily available if you actually wanted to learn.
Are you open to being persuaded?
Ohh. You’re complaining you can’t own a less lethal weapon, I interpreted it as you couldn’t own a lethal weapon at all where you lived. I don’t understand why you’d want a lethal weapon at all, that’s insane to me.
This is the same logic Americans use with gun ownership and look how well that’s working out.
I think their point is they’re out of touch. In 2023 kids are wearing baggy jeans again.
Agreed. Fuck billionaires, fuck capitalism.
You force me to use your app, you force me to use another website.
Huh, I didn’t know about this (though it doesn’t surprise me). Thanks for the links.
Yep, I have to say “rest-au-rant” in my head every time.
In some countries they are also used for missing people, train crashes, terrorist attacks, pandemic quarantine rule changes. I’m not opposed to getting this information, but I am opposed to it not being optional.
And I have zero trust in our current government and could absolutely see it being misused down the line. But, for now, they can be turned off here.
