  • I used to get into arguments about the “cowards” thing. Like yeah, they forfeit a time or two and lost a few fights. So have most countries, whether they let you know about it or not.

They have also been a global super power for at least as long as America has existed, or longer, depending on what you consider to be a super power. So yeah, they brushed up against a couple of rough patches in that time lol

Running into a similar issue at work. My department is full of great workers, but my management is absolute dogshit so they’re wasting a ton of potential.

I had to stick my neck out for a girl who almost got fired because I was the only one who realized that she was calling out so much because no one has so much as thought about her in 6 months, let alone trained her to do anything.

After sticking my neck out, they’ve been a bit better about training in general and as it turns out, this girl has several years of experience with the machinery we use. But no one knew, so she’s not been allowed to touch any of it until last week

From a quick glance, my only issue with this is that it keeps telling me to be introspective and if I’m introspective enough I have to actually acknowledge my gender identity and that sounds awful.

On a more serious note, I skimmed this link and it does seem to be a relatively good “guide” on transitioning. Transitioning is a very individual thing, it’s gonna be vastly different for each and everyone. I noticed lots of general advice about “knowing yourself” and “using support groups around you” and whatnot, which is basically exactly the advice I’ve given and heard a lot. You’re gonna need to figure out who you are, what you want, and why. You don’t ever need to tell anyone the why. In fact, if someone asks for the why, be suspicious of them. But you should know why you are the way you are just for the sake of maintaining your ability to grow.

  • Maybe you’re just making a lot of money (as would be expected in you’re an American living in Albania)?

No no, the cost of living is nothing. A quick google search shows the average cost of living is only around $945 a month!!

Please, just don’t go figure out what their average pay is. I promise that doesn’t factor into this equation, and it’s totally more than half of their cost of living lol

  • I just saw a post yesterday talking about someone’s boss trying to force them to use AI, and they specifically said “AI wants you to get paid in corn for this contract”

I don’t imagine you’re referencing this post but… Lemmy’s starting to get that weird “see the same concept several times in a row then never again” size lol

  • I actually love this idea. I’m on a federated service, why do I need to go to 3 meme communities on 3 instances when I could go to “meme” and see all of them?

Crossposts from within the cross-feed could be automatically hidden to avoid showing the same post multiple times, and then we just start spreading the word to crosspost instead of reposting. I think the only issue is that this would definitely be better to implement client-side because AP is just a protocol to move data, whereas this requires checking too many user-defined variables to make it idiomatic easily. I could be wrong though, I don’t know the AP code very well
