Communities before discord were forums. No fucking community was built around teamspeak or vent. They had them, but they were built around forums or the in game systems of various MMOs.

MMOs use to be actual glorified IRC and chat rooms that just happened to have a game attached. That was the entire point.

Forums were the bread and butter, that’s were you got the voice coms info.

At best you have tiny friend groups that only hung out in a voice coms. But the actual community was NOT ts3 or vent

Hornet is literally a princess knight. Hell she even has a white steed.

She’s a bit of a tsundere on top of it.

Hollow Knight is a very very cliche story of knights and kingdoms both the first and silksong. These sorts of stories are basically the foundation for a lot of peoples childhood fantasy stories.

So you have a very well made classical knights and kingdoms fantasy story with well done classic renditions of the standard character tropes.

Combine these two facts and you have a breeding group for people to become overly attached.

There’s a good damn reason these settings and character tropes are classics!

Basically every indie game on steam is also just yours to own.

Steam “drm” is entirely optional and can even just be turned off locally in any game more or less. Either just by throwing a simple txt file with the app id in the root folder or just removing the dll that hooks steams overlay into the game.

Strictly speaking the only reason steam games need steam to run at all is because the dll is hooking into steam cloud/overlay and community services. Hench why games “fail” to launch if steam isn’t on. The dll is unable to load the overlay so it crashes, your missing dependencies.

If you don’t need or want them they are optional tho with the simple removal of the dll or appid txt file.

Seriously you can just remove the steam API dll from silksong and it runs entirely locally. Same with RimWorld, factario, terraria, cave of qud, etc.

Steam IS a drm free platform by default. The mandatory requirement is opt in for devs.

I only point this out cause for some fucking reason this once common knowledge has been lost to time. And for some reason everyone thinks steam doesn’t allow you to play your games with out it.

Itchi and gog are great stores but they don’t have everything. And people shouldn’t feel limited because of nonsense like lack of knowledge of their options.

I play women in MMOs because they get all the good outfits and if I’m going to spend money I want something pretty to look at.

Men get fuck and all in the way of good outfits basically in every game ever. :/
