I don’t know. Probably collections by G4S and the like?

How often do you need to go to a bank branch though? I last went in 2017 and even that wasn’t a necessary trip.
Right…ok.
Wait, what’s wrong with Cloudflare?
I still don’t get how it’s related. Some of the funding sources specify that the media outlet can’t use Mastodon?
Because nobody can reliably predict the future. That’s one possible outcome and I think it’s very unlikely.
That might be a bit of a stretch.
Not sure why you’re surprised that an ÖBB train only takes Euros, unless you were somewhere that uses a different currency.
I’d argue that in this case it was reckless, but very wreckful.
Microsoft does too. Every time I log in to Azure (or Intune, or Defender, or Microsoft 365 or whatever they’re all called these days) for work something has changed names. The documentation usually isn’t updated to reflect the changes.
Yeah, combination microwave/convection ovens are pretty common in Europe, but they don’t need to be smart.
Mine isn’t even on the map. I won’t be able to vote for any of the main parties anyway, but let’s hope Alliance can oust the DUP.
Yeah, at current electricity prices where I live that would be just under £300,000 per transaction. Doesn’t seem right.
Edit: as pointed out, I was out by a factor of 100. Electricity costs 40p per kWh here.
Don’t forget the employer taxes, insurance, recruitment costs and so on. It wouldn’t surprise me if the employees are earning on average half that.
I find it hard to believe there are 125,000 users on kbin…are we sure it isn’t reporting stats from all the servers it’s federated with (and therefore including Lemmy)?
I mean, it’s a great time to do server maintenance if none of your users are there anyway…
I’m not in the industry so I have no idea - is this common rather than having cash collected by G4S & co.?
I’m guessing they mostly use the phone instead, but probably have no great need to do either.
Can also be done on the phone.
I’m not arguing that all banks should close their branches but with the way society works these days I can see how they’re incredibly expensive and inefficient to run.
