  • This is how I water them at home.

Put plant in sink. Soak with water. Allow to drain. Use draining as an excuse not to do dishes. Get irritated with myself for not putting the plant back as I catch myself needing to drain the pasta I’m cooking for dinner so I shuffle shit around while almost burning myself. Put plant back.

  • I’ve had bad experiences with melatonin, but now I find it can be helpful in smaller doses. I cycle through a bedtime thc/CBD/melatonin sleep aid (Wonder Wellness Sleep), L-theanine, and melatonin, only taking one for tops a week at a time. That rotation seems to help.

  • Not sure of the ages of your children, but as a 52yo who grew up in the States, I averaged 2-3 hours of homework a night in grade school. They’d tell us “oh, it’s only about 15-20 minutes per class” which doesn’t sound terrible, except that it was more like 20-30 minutes of work x 4-6 classes. By 7th grade I burned out and realized that the world didn’t end if I started skipping homework, and my test grades remained about the same. I just had to live with the stifling anxiety over getting in trouble for not getting my homework done.

Thankfully by the time my kids came along schools started pulling back on the volumes of unnecessary homework. I also never pressured them to get every assignment done, but instead asked them if they understood what they were doing. As adults having completed further educational programs, they did just fine. I’m glad that as time goes on, kids are getting more of a chance to be kids.

  • You know how many smokers have/had their hard line on what price would make them quit smoking? For me (a 52yo woman) that was when pop breached $5.99 a 24 pack case. I would buy it again occasionally if sale prices dipped into that range, but having crossed that line it broke my habit. The thought of $7 for a 12 pack is just painful.

  • I’m in a southern Chicago suburb. Yesterday it was over 70 degrees, last night we had hail and tornadoes, then I wake up to snow flurries. There are trees and plants doing things they shouldn’t for weeks and I suspect my spring allergies are already starting.

While part of me is embracing the “milder” days, it’s also a bit unnerving.
