You’re not wrong, but there is nothing like a truck bed. Of any size. It is so friggin practical, speaking as a man that has had access to pickup trucks but has only owned 5 cars as daily drivers…trying to finagle some big piece of shit into the cars for transport sucks. Especially anything of size that might not fit through the puny, stupid doors.

Yes, that fold-down backseat helps a lot with long, narrow items. But it’s still hardly a substitute for a truck bed.

I would love a machine like this, but without the lift & massive wheels. Seems unnecessary.

  • There is, just a little. 🙂

For people that don’t have context…I know farmers that irrigate (water) their beans. But a lot of smart farmers don’t irrigate right away! They want the soybean plant to establish, to set up down roots in the soil (in search of water). They allow the plants to struggle. Then, when they feel the time is right, they say, “Alright, let them have it.” And shower them with water as needed.

If this isn’t done, the farmer risks creating a bunch of soybean plants that aren’t firmly rooted in the soil.

It’s similar to people in life; whether they realize it or not, they need struggle & adversity in order to fully develop properly. We can identify people that are soft & coddled, that don’t know how to work. Now more than ever. They’re ill-suited for life. Perhaps shielding them from every real pain, struggle, adversity seemed like a kindness, but in the end it tends to be a disservice.

  • I have a farmer that raises (mostly!) grass-fed Angus cows; he feeds them out for a little less than a year & sends them to slaughter “when they’re right”. Produces very tender, good beef & I buy 1/4 cow.

…anyway. This is what he said, he’s seen things where GMO & non-GMO corn are poured into different troughs & the cows clearly want the non-GMO. They figure out they’re not the same & the non-GMO is all they want to eat. Much like a cat with different cat foods, etc.

It makes a hell of a lot of sense; the GMO corn plant is made to push heavy yield. Be resistant to pests & all kinds of disease. Bigger kernels. Then on top of the GMO qualities, maybe a little of what’s been sprayed onto the plants gets into the kernel. It’s probably not super tasty when compared to just…regular-ass corn with not as potent chemical sprays.

  • Idk about your alfalfa/hay situation, but IIRC for corn it is 7 whole years. This is so virtually all of the inorganic pesticides, insecticides, fertilizers, and all the other “stuff” that isn’t organic works its way out of the soil. We just had a local farmer become organic certified for corn a couple years ago; it was a big deal.

Personally I think in the interim, a farmer could sell his “not quite organic certified” corn crop to a local cattle producer for feed. 😏 Charge more than GMO corn, but not as much as organic. Everybody wins, everybody’s happy. There is a base practical reason for this: at least cows prefer organic & non-GMO corn. It tastes better to them, hell, it’s probably marginally better for them. They happily eat more, which fattens them up, making for a better end product beef.

If we’re arguing semantics over a group of people, what they stand for & what the definition is, the label coming to represent a group of undesirables that you must now accept whether you like it or not…damn near everyone should be ashamed. ¯\(°_o)/¯

  • Agreed, GoDaddy can suck an entire warehouse of cocks. It’s important you know the basic context, because in a weird way this can be considered history.

This is another Trump Derangement Syndrome type post. Remember when Trump got kicked off of Twitter & other social media platforms? Conservatives & Republicans said FINE, we’ll make our own social media platform! With blackjack! And hookers! Parler was born.

…but Amazon & I guess GoDaddy, too, decided after Parler was built that they wanted nothing to do with Parler. So they yanked out the infrastructure, the hosting & servers, that Parler was built on. Parler was unable to function. Liberals rejoiced & jeered, conservatives were understandably distraught.

Somehow Truth Social exists, via Mastodon & some weird-ass open source structure. Nobody cares about Truth Social, though.

Basically this post is mocking the Republicans, conservatives for feeble attempts to grassroots build an internet presence. And not having robust contingency plans in place, and owning every step of the process, to ensure it could not be disrupted or fucked with.
