It’s funny how tame the puma sisters are compared to stuff these days.

Don’t think you’re going to see that in every mobile client…Sync doesn’t have it for example. I think the benefit is more in remembering than typing, too.
I’ve been thinking that there should be a better shorthand for linking to a community on a specific instances. Something along the lines of giving each instance a shorthand up to 4 characters or something, and then do community links in the format /<shorthand>/<name>. So give sh.itjust.works sjw as a shorthand, and /sjw/privacy becomes the community name. I think that would make it easier to remember the one you mean.
Honestly the duplication and splintering of communities across instances will be a big problem if Lemmy ever gets more mainstream.
So probably not, but still.
The fuck is this? Edit: because what it is not is a meme
What’s better is blocked subs…or blocking whole instances.
I’m unclear on the exact parameters of it, but there’s an issue open for it. SJW is my home instance, so maybe that has something to do with it?
Well when they’re saying there’s 2% odds, that’s…probably still higher than you want for the probability of a world ending asteroid strike.
It is a pretty 70s-ass fit to begin with.
There’s a major incompatibility with newer versions of the Lemmy software where Sync shows a comment count but cannot display the comments. So at the moment I can’t see any comments from posts hosted on sh.itjust.works. I know that there’s other less severe issues too (I think spoilers are semi-broken in some instances).
Me too but it’s semi-broken right now and hasn’t had an update in a long time. I really don’t want to switch, though.
I like how you have somehow managed to avoid encountering unflipped manga until today, and yet still think you know the best way to present it.
Because it’s japanese and japanese is often written right to left. You can’t make it read left to right without changing the art. People who read manga understand the convention. It’s surprising if you haven’t run into this before given the popularity of manga now.
Er do people actually pay that high of fees for Uber eats? Maybe in NYC or something? I don’t really use it if I can help it but I’ve never seen fees that high. Edit: although I will note that many of my experiences with GrubHub/doordash/Uber eats end with me looking at the fees, saying “yeah that’s way too much”, and closing the browser tab.
Wherever it is probably doesn’t exist yet. But there will always be a next thing. If there were any viable outlet for average redditors to move to currently, they would’ve done it during the protests. I also think the average person just does not give a shit about federation and getting away from centralized control. They just want to be where people are.
Apparently it’s an issue with newer versions of the Lemmy software. I can see posts from SJW and the number of comments, but if I click through on them I can’t see any of the comments. It’s been reported on the discord but no updates. There’s also other stuff like the fact that sync can’t deal with showing separate upvotes and downvotes, so you have to just show score. Lots of little random glitches from differences between reddit and Lemmy.
The author of sync basically goes completely off the grid for long periods of time (presumably due to irl priorities) and doesn’t work on sync during these periods. It’s always been a thing with sync. But Lemmy changes more frequently than reddit so the bugs can be more frustrating. I’m considering changing apps, honestly, because not being able to see comments on my home instance is driving me crazy. But I do really like sync’s interface.

Bluesky has a lot of momentum and no one cares about mastodon. So I do think bluesky will likely remain a fixture. But I don’t think it’s the thing that replaces reddit. It’s the thing that replaces twitter.
I really loved sync for reddit, but development on the app is pretty inconsistent and there’s currently some major bugs/unsupported features. For example I can’t currently view comments on posts from SJW.
It means nothing, just like karma
