Yes, I did. I bowled a lot when I was younger, I was even on the varsity bowling team at my high school. That was the last time I regularly bowled. Now it’s like, once or twice a year.

There are certain places I actually miss cigarette smell in. Most importantly, bowling alleys. They just aren’t the same anymore. It was part of the ambiance.

I had a similar experience. And my hand always cramped up because I was putting a death grip on those cheap, skinny pens. I really enjoy slightly fatter pens, like a vintage Sheaffer’s oversized. Or a Platinum 3776. Not as big as a Montblanc 149, or a Wing Sung 630. Just a little on the chubby side. Way less cramping.

Fountain pens are the best. I got a Hero 616 off AliExpress for $0.36 on sale one time, and even that is better than a BIC. And my gold nib pens make BICs feel like I’m chiseling cuniform into stone tablets.

Right. When I was interviewing people, I honestly couldn’t care less about the CV. I’m an engineer, words are hard. I want a list of your skills, your software proficiencies, and a run-down of your previous jobs along with your responsibilities. When you get here, I’m going to care about finding out how much you know about designing and cad. Then we’ll take a tour of the shop to see if the machinery we build is in your comfort zone. We’ll have some small talk to get a feel for if you’d fit in with the group, and off you’ll go. All said and done, it should be under 45 minutes.

It worked fine for me, I’ve landed three jobs that way. That was a while ago though, the last time was in 2017. My last two jobs I took because I had some connections call out of the blue. I’ve been very fortunate in that regard. I can’t imagine that would happen again, most of my connections are getting close to retirement age at this point.

I don’t live by any family, I don’t want to know or talk to people in the community or help them with their problems. I like just using my tax money to pay someone else to handle that. If somebody breaks into Mr. Johnson’s car to steal his change, we aren’t putting a posse together to find the guy.

And if we were responsible for solving our own crimes, I am going to go from being for gun control to loving the second amendment. Nobody better steal my change, because I value my property more than I value most people. Even my Aldi cart quarters in the cup holder.

Fedora was actually the last version of Linux I used, back in high school on my old HP e-Vectra. Fedora Core 4. What made you pick Fedora? I’m going to be switching to Linux before Win 10 is end of life, and there are so many more options than there were in the early 2000’s.
