That’s crab cake. They are referring to crab ragoon which frequently has no crab ( but it’s supposed to).
He’s pushing his mark of the beast logo meme to deflect from the Maga hats that already exist.
I found my dad’s old calipers and the inside of the case had disintegrated. I wanted to print a new inside mold for the caliper case. But that meant taking measurements of the calipers. So I bought new calipers to measure the old calipers.
I measure 3 times and still need to print at least 3 times to get something right.
I’m working on an outdoor hose grommet that’s a custom fit to my house. I measured with calipers. I also took paper, traced the fixture and marked the holes before modeling and 3d printing.
I have a desk full of badly fitting prototypes. -or just bad because I forgot to set a print setting in the slicer.
As I found out from YouTuber NileRed, raw coffee seeds don’t taste like coffee at all. It requires very careful roasting to chemically convert the seed into coffee.

To quote the great 20th Century philosopher John Michael Osbourne:
It’s not how you play the game,
it’s if you win or lose
You can choose, don’t confuse
Win or lose, it’s up to you

2·3 months agoI have a 27 year old LCD that would still be great but the fluorescent tube that backlights it has dimmed. It’s on my trash pile of projects to fix it with an led strip.

memes@lemmy.world•Only one generation knows how to fix tech...
12·3 months agoYour family is very techy and it makes sense that they’d be knowledgeable, but the point of the meme is that there was a generation that grew up with tech that kinda worked most of the time, forcing them to learn how to use it to be effective,
The problem is their dates are off. Home Computers went mainstream in 1977 with the Apple II.

23·3 months agoThe PC revolution started with the Apple 2 in 1977. In the early 80’s everyone had a Commodore 64. By the mid 80’s everyone had a PC. If you were born in the 80’s, you were not editing autoexec files in diapers.

9·3 months agoBarry Leiner wrote about how Gore helped get the Internet started:
"The Internet Society hosts a monograph called called “A Brief History of the Internet.” (See http://www.isoc.org/internet-history/brief.html) The authors include some of the designers of the essential components of how the Internet works today: Barry M. Leiner, Vinton G. Cerf, David D. Clark, Robert E. Kahn, Leonard Kleinrock, Daniel C. Lynch, Jon Postel, Larry G. Roberts, and Stephen Wolff. The paper notes these key milestones in Internet history
Note that these authors of (and participants in) Internet history state clearly that as early as 1988, then-Senator Gore became involved in the goal of building a national research network. We’ll examine his role in more detail later."

9·3 months ago“We don’t think, as some people have argued, that Gore intended to claim he “invented” the Internet. Moreover, there is no question in our minds that while serving as Senator, Gore’s initiatives had a significant and beneficial effect on the still-evolving Internet. The fact of the matter is that Gore was talking about and promoting the Internet long before most people were listening.”

92·3 months agoI worked for Vint Cerf. I later started my own ISP. I know the history of the Internet because I lived it.
I quoted Vint Cerf. What do you have to support your claim?

153·3 months agoAl Gore never claimed to have been the founder of the Internet. Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn both defended Al Gore against idiots like you.
Rush Limbaugh was on the radio daily in the early 90’s calling Al Gore’s information superhighway a Democratic Boondoggle. Republicans were fighting to kill the Internet. Al Gore was fighting since the 80’s to fund it so it could grow into something bigger than a research network.
If Eisenhower can get credit for the US Interstate Highway system despite not pouring a drop of concrete, then Al Gore gets credit for the Internet.

144·3 months agoI dated a girl in college whose dad was one of the founding creators of the internet. Unlike Al Gore lol.
Bullshit. If her dad was one of the founders of the Internet, you’d know that the Al Gore meme was a Republican smear campaign.
I worked for Vint Cerf in the early 90’s. This is what he wrote to defend Al Gore against the Republican smear campaign:
Arch promoters are the worst. I believe anyone suggesting Arch to convert people are Windows/Mac marketing. If you already use Linux, then Arch could be useful for you. But anyone even remotely new or experienced but more interested in using their computer rather than configuring an OS shouldn’t get an Arch recommendation.

There’s no other way to cut a sandwich but in the 4th dimension. Otherwise you’ll be standing around all day waiting.
