For real. Samsung’s sheer quantity of bloatware on every phone is ridiculous. It’s the primary reason I’m never buying from them again, aside from just plain old privacy concerns.

The response from the LLM I showed in my reply is generally the same any time you ask almost anything negative about the CCP, regardless of the possible context. It almost always starts with the exact words “The Chinese Communist Party has always adhered to a people-centered development philosophy,” a heavily pre-trained response that wouldn’t show up if it was simply generally biased from, say, training data. (and sometimes just does the “I can’t answer that” response)

It NEVER puts anything in the <think> brackets you can see above if the question is even slightly possibly negative about the CCP, which it does with any other prompt. (See below, asking if cats or dogs are better, and it generating about 4,600 characters of “thoughts” on the matter before even giving the actual response.

1. Trans people who don’t pass will also feel awkward walking in there, and many of them don’t. Often times, you’ll primarily just see people who pass going into the restroom matching their gender. Just the fact they identify as the gender doesn’t often mean even they are comfortable going in there, so it’s not like anyone presenting as masculine going into the women’s restroom is even a common occurrence in places where trans people are accepted
2. Anyone who would be willing to visually change themselves to pass as the opposite gender doesn’t need “being trans” as a concept to do so, and could be just as willing to engage in that regardless.
3. Gay people exist and they don’t feel awkward walking in to those spaces, yet could just as well engage in sexual assault of people matching their gender without anybody questioning their right to be there.

Something along the lines of “Murder is wrong but also this man’s policies at his company led to a third of people’s claims being denied and 22 billion dollars just last year being taken as profit off people actively having their healthcare denied and maybe, just maybe, we should do something about that.”

The same way you do it digitally: add a thin layer of DRM that gives you legal protection, but doesn’t actually do much on a technical level. Check a license key from the game drive in the same way you’d check the key of software someone paid you for, then let the code run on their machine.

DRM itself isn’t a very good way of protecting media. The functional protections are almost nonexistent due to the nature of it. If you want to let someone play/watch/read content, you can’t also make it magically impossible for them to just take the code/video/text, and copy paste it somewhere else. The only thing DRM does is give you the legal right to invoke the state as a way of enforcing copyright law against anyone who ‘pirates’ your work.

Any fraud that could happen likely wouldn’t be stopped no matter what they tried. (or rather, if they did nothing protection-wise)

I find those kinds of chatbots useful, but those aren’t the ones I encounter 90% of the time. Most of the time, it’s a chatbot that summarizes the help articles I just read, giving faulty interpretations of the source material, that then goes on to never direct me to a real person unless I tell it multiple times that the articles it’s paraphrasing aren’t helping. (and sometimes, they have no live support at all, and only an LLM + support articles)

Oh yeah, it’s definitely useful for that!

Since LLMs are essentially just very complicated probabilistic links between words, it seems to be extremely good at picking the exact word or phrase that even a thesaurus couldn’t get me.

I primarily end up using LLMs through DuckDuckGo’s private frontend alongside a search, so if my current search doesn’t yield the correct answer to my question (i.e. I ask for something but those keywords only ever turn up search results on a different, but similar topic) then I go to the LLM and ask a more refined question, that otherwise doesn’t produce any relevant results in a traditional keyword search.

I also use integrated LLMs to format and distill my offhand notes, (and reformat arbitrary text based on specific criteria repeatedly for structured notes,) learn programming syntax more at my own pace and in my own way, and just generally get answers on more well-known topics a lot faster than I would scrolling past 5 pages of SEO-“optimized” garbage just designed to fill time for the ads to load before actually giving me a good answer.

I have never once found an “AI” feature integrated by a corporation useful.

I have only ever found “AI” useful when it’s unobtrusive, and something I chose to use manually. Sometimes an LLM is useful to use, but I don’t need it shilled to me inside a search bar or in a support chat that won’t solve my problem until I bypass the LLM.

I feel like this says more about these students’ schools, rather than the students themselves.
