Agreed, the Voyager app for lemmy is the GOAT.

I fell for this trap on youtube. Wont name names, but at first i really thought these people only call out actual woke stuff, but later i realised everything is woke to them.
Average female protagonist? WOKE.
Like shut up dude…
This image by itself always makes me sad for Skips…
Amazing show
Whats wrong with fdroid? Glorified apk installer. Ye…es? What else should an app store do?
You know, RSS exists to literally circumvent this problem, albeit for articles. A lot of sites still have it, people just forgot that this is a thing. Little bit of a chore to setup, but its actually pretty nice. Obviously finding these sites is the hard part, but a good search engine (kagi btw) could make it work.
Also PeerTube exists as well, which reduces the cost of hosting videos.
Absolutely agree with the youtube subscription part. I am not giving them money if i can.
So what do I do? Patreon. I watch ad free, and i give 1 dollar a month instead on patreon. Win-win.
P.S. However, this way only a select few get money from me, but it is what it is.
Wow, are you me?? :D
I almost did the same, just my phone is not a pixel, so i had to resort to some other custom ROM. And I still just use good ol’ firefox with proton VPN most of the time.
P.S. I also blocked our TV from accessing the internet as well. Ex. Codeberg is a GitHub replacement, and on mobile Grayjay/LibreTube works great for youtube.
At first I did now understand it, why would you even use it??(vim / neovim) It would take ages to learn it all. Then got around to try it, and in a span of like a week, I couldnt go back to editing text with a mouse. I wasnt efficient at first, but damn was it fun. Just cruising around the codebase without touching the mouse (as much as i could.)
Yeah, it makes you more efficient if youve learnt it enough, but at the same time, it makes editing literal text way more enjoyable. You need to edit some boilerplate, and it actually becomes somewhat interesting like: ‘Can I use a macro here’, or 'How can i do it the most efficient way?’.
I think it also gives you a state of mind as well (for me it definitely shaped it.) You want to learn your tools, you want to understand what makes a good text editor (ex. LSP), or just perfecting your usabilitx of a terminal / shell.
At the same time, damn sometimes its a straight up curse that i learnt vim. I open any other text editor and i just curse the whole time: 'Where are my vim motions?!!?
P.S. Remapping Escape to Caps Lock made vim usability to a 10 for me.
Everyone should use whatever their heart desires, and for me the voyager app is beyond perfect (Android, PWA.) I havent used Sync so it might be better in some aspects but I am content with voyager.
P.S. If you really like a client you should donate any amount to the developer(s) to help them keep their app awesome!
With the search Powertoys can help, it is really good. Plus the other features it has is just amazing, windows without it is pure trash.
