  • Those people are idiots. You always need to check the credentials and history of people telling you something, and even then - if they’re an expert in security they may know nothing about electronics or explosives or how secret agencies operate.

And yes, news can be really unreliable - on purpose or just out of mistakes. Gotta always keep that in mind as well, but it also reeeally depends on the particular media company.

  • Oh yeah, I really didn’t think about it from an energy perspective, but I also never slant it when I heat. Only when it’s a little warmer, in winter I do “impact ventilate”. (What an interesting word, in German it’s “Stoßlüften”, so a very similar literal translation :D)

Really interesting point with the mass though! I do notice active air exchange when it’s colder, however, so not sure if it would make such a difference?

  • It’s not an excuse, it’s an explanation. There is no community here, there are many. Your words, unfortunately, ring hollow.

There are a few communities here that are great, but so many from the front page are just toxic junk, be it regarding economics or politics. I find myself closing comment sections and not interacting here way more often than in the past on reddit - so much childishness, it’s quite sad.

But I also have to say that I find it too annoying and empty here to properly build my front page with my interests, so I’m just cruising on the Everything page. Since there are no limits here for Everything like on reddit, of course I (we) have to dig through all the intellectual trash too. I want to block that toxic shithole hexbear so bad.

Just as much as CEOs (or any C-levels) deserve an exorbitant amount of pay for their ingenuity of sitting in meetings all day and basing decisions on pretty graphs made by others? Oh, and when the company “doesn’t do well” it’s the employees’ fault! Another round of layoffs WHOOO!

  • But you don’t?

Password managers really are not hard to use. Also there’s stuff like the password manager built into iOS, for example, which you don’t even have to think about.

My comment about threat modelling was that you do not seem to understand the purpose of password managers. A way bigger problem for the average person online is password reuse, not targeted attacks against password vaults. That is the problem they solve.
