I will never understand how sitting next to each other in silence for a couple of hours staring at a screen became something we commonly do with friends in the first place. It’s probably the most antisocial group activity I could think of.

Terror Packets by Backxwash if you like heavy, angry, shouty hip hop. Pretty much any given song by her is incredible.
I’d argue that this is just a continuation of billionaires buying up the media.
I think it does too, but the problem with nostalgia is that you forget about all the shitty parts and just remember the good bits. Tumblr is still owned by big tech oligarchs even if it is smaller than the other platforms, and is still vulnerable to the kind of enshittification that the fediverse is more insulated against. Enshittification actually came for Tumblr long ago but it looks positively tame in comparison with other platforms.
Sorry you had to find out like this. Enjoy the socks.
Ubuntu is for tboys
Arch is for tgirls
Sorry, I don’t make the rules.
Interesting take. I personally disagree - I define art as the human experience/emotions being expressed exclusively by humans through various mediums. To me, that human element is what makes art “art” as it were. AI might be able to produce approximations of art and some of it might even look quite nice, but I don’t consider it “art” in the way I define the word.
I feel like the only person who never got viruses from Limewire. Just don’t run the file called “slipknot_wait_and_bleed.mp3.exe”, it’s not rocket science.
This is how I see vinyl as well. I don’t buy them for the sound quality, I have a huge library of uncompressed digital files for that. I buy them because they’re a nice tactile thing to own that helps support the artists I love. 9 times out of 10 I’m not spinning vinyl when I listen to music, but I will if I want to create a particular experience/vibe in that moment.
As a cyber security engineer, it’s because it hates you. It also hates me. The printer knows nothing but rage.
This makes me uncomfortable in ways I can’t quite put into words
If the idea of a public library was proposed today this would pretty much be the response.
